Actually all kidding aside, I would go with 18 ga stainless. Thats what I use as my practice legs. It seems to be a good compromise between toughness and weight. The knee cops are double layered to hold up to the silly SCA kneeling thing when legged. Mine are also fluted like hell so that helps to t...

You know, you just gotta love this place. Probably the only group of folks on earth who get excited about a chunk of wood. Except maybe for Ren and Stimpy fans. Real quickly: For brass/mild steel you can go to radio shack and get circuit board etching fluid. It's relatively safe to use but rather slow. I use ferric chloride myself. It works well and looks like surgical scrub stuff(ugly puke yellowish color) Now you need something to keep the parts you don't...

As previously mentioned a foundation garment is essential for a good fit to your harness. I currently use a harness that is closely fitted to my upper body to suspend my legs. It works well and fits over a shirt but under my gambeson. It’s a bitch to get on but fits like a second skin with zero ch...

In my current setup I have no way to put in a dust collection system. So basically: *I cover up whatever I don't want coated *Sweep up after every session with a fine ratail brush *Once I have all visible particles cleaned up I plug in my modified blower and blow everything out the door, where it en...
