Interesting, that seems to confirm 14 gauge being common. Would love further details on breastplate and helm plate additions.

Good points... Nothing exact is needed, just a general range. I'm basically just interested to know if something akin to 16 gauge or even 14 gauge was the norm for battlefield helmets.

Historical helm thickness

Someone on the archive posted this great link on breastplate thickness - m Is there any similar info on historical helm thickness? I'm aware 12-14 gauge is the standard in helm thickness for SCA, but what about historically? I read somewhere that today's helmets are thicker for better and more serio...

It looks like it would also make a good cervelliere(skull cap) if the above mentioned additions didn't work out.

FS: SS plates 5 x 1.5 inches

I have a few 20 gauge stainless plates like the attached pic if anyone is interested. The punched holes were made to accommodate 14 gauge rings, 0.090 diameter. The holes are 0.250 apart and the plates are sized 5 x 1.5.

28 bounds of brass must have angered the god of Flat rate postal boxes... LOL. Thanks Milan, I'm glad the brass got there safely(more or less). I'll keep your tip in mind about more packing tape next time. Milan was also a great guy to do business with. Would definitely recommend him as a customer ...

BY JOVE, ITS 2009, WHERE IN THE WORLD IS MY FLYING CAR!!! *ahem* Hehehe. There's been some progress with that actually. All you need is a long ramp, a HUGE rubber band, and maybe some gliding wings bolted to your car doors. You can successfully FLY, it's just the landing that's the hard part.

At that price, I'd be interested... :)

I see you have a punch for the scales, but would you be able to do different shapes, such as rectangular with rounded edges? Similar to a lamellar design I suppose.

Very nice. Sounds like quite a reasonable deal.

Does this arbor press have the strength to punch holes in steel? if so, up to what gauge? I ask because I have no experience with them.

Thanks!

16th arm armor

I've noticed(rarely) this kind of arm armor that fully covers the inner elbow, but I've never seem a name for it.

What's it called? Is it 16th century, 17th?
