Was this one of Windlass' maille coifs? I was curious about the quality of their brass maille.

Stronger as in 16 gauge? I have one such imported lorica and it is too heavy to wear for an extended period of time.

Thanks all.

I know chainmail mantles and I have one, but how that differs from a hauberk style I don't quite follow ...

Also, I know gussets and how they work in regards to plate armor, but how do they work with maille? A looser section weave allowing greater expansion?

Matt,

Sorry to hear that. You've been one of the most helpful and level headed guys around here and your work has been good.

Hope your decision brings you peace and contentment.

Well said Klaus.

Chainmail long sleeve design

After getting some rather helpful info from my hauberk leg split post, thought I'd also check to see if anyone had any info on historic and modern designs for constructing a full sleeve hauberk. Sounds easy, but the issue remains how much circumference there should be in the forearm. Too much and it...

The hauberk I'm working on is composed of split rings, so it's strong and fully modifiable.

Mac, expand the skirts in what way? Width?

Thanks for the suggestions

That's the kind of info I was looking for. Appreciate it. :)

Was this method common historically? I like information on both ancient and modern mailling.

Hauberk leg split

At the leg split in a full length hauberk, how far down should the coverage go? Should it stop above the crotch?

Now that I think about it, there may be two 18 gauge sheets left. I am checking with the seller and I will get back to you when I know for sure. Looks like the 18g sheets will go to those who responded first.

Cutting fees will probably apply, but won't be much.

Thanks for the interest.

The seller who sold me the brass is asking if anyone else is interested. I believe there are some 20 gauge and 24 gauge sheets left, maybe one of the 18. The last transaction went very well with all parties involved. Shipping was reasonable with cut up sheets(thanks to Johann Lederer who gave me a b...

Possibly. It is adjustable though. You're right it does look high, but then again I have a long neck being 6'7. I asked the armory for photos of someone wearing one and they regrettably informed me they didn't. I'm going to be careful considering this purchase as it may be an import that just LOOKS ...

It may not be suitable for real world jousting or something like that, but hopefully SCA suitable. Close enough to the real historical example.

Opinions on bevor style - Darksword Armory

I've looked up Darksword and the reviews over the past have not been favorable.

I find this bevor rather interesting in its look and design.
