another thing to consider is that after time most clear coats start to get a little yellowish, though i don't think is would survive long enough for that to happen in frequently used armour. something I've been wanting to try on armour for a while is Gibbs penetrating oil. Here's a picture of one done up on a mannequin leg with a greave as well. m the geaves are also often labeled as gauntlets, and there are a a number of images of mannequins wearing them as such m If anyone is interested i can start posting progress pics here as i pu...

Maille and plates cuise, what are they hung from?

I'm working on some maille and plates cuise for myself right now and I've noticed that a number of existent ones have a buckle right at the top center point. m that image shows it really well. So, am i correct in assuming that they would be hung from a belt of some sort? does anyone have any images ...

Baron Alejandro the plates are 4 1/4" inches long. My chest is exactly 36" around, i wanted 8 rows of plates, so 4 1/2" was my magic number. from there i dropped it down to 4 1/4" to allow for the maille between each column. I just used a pair of tin snips to cut the banding, and...

I'm planing on building some lamellar in the near future from 1 1/4" pallet banding.
the plates in my maille and plates are 4" lengths of 1 1/4" banding and they hold up fine. I think they endure similar stresses to lamellar plates.

You could get a helm powder coated in any color you can imagine, but make sure to have it sandblasted first or the powder wont be nearly as durable.
I had my legs powder coated and have hammered some good sized dents out of them without needing any touch ups.

Mostly, i really wanted to show off my new hat. I built it for SCA Cut and Thrust. it's 16 gauge throughout and inspired by zischagge and chichak style helms.
