for the battle of Wisby you're probably looking at something like a simple bascinet. depending on who you portray a visor as well. you may want to look at early attempts at basciney visors- like the triangular nose gaurd that is attached to the maille and fastens to the brow. I disagree. Since Coif...

Brian and I talked about it and we will have at least one video camera there. I would like to point out that this will be a "guided discussion" I doubt we will come to any definitive conclusions. Perhaps some interesting thoughts may emerge though. . .

I'm glad people like the system. I like it too. It is easy for me and easy for you. For myself, I like it beacuse I can never lose my patterns. Last time I made an arm harness I could not find the pattern for the rerebrace. I went to the computer and printed the necessary page. I also had one of my ...

Hey Doug, Might be a glitch or something, but I ordered the full bascinet helm book with both faceplates, and went to download the pdf, but the next page stated that my time had expired. I was like "wait, it was only 2 seconds!" lolol sorry for the trouble. I emailed you a temporary link for one do...

I've been busy--New Products!

As many of you know I have had some bad health issues including three knee surgeries a very serious infection. This has left me unable to make any armour since September. In order to keep myself busy I've been working on writing more of our armouring manuals/patterns. I've just released eleven (11) ...

Looks like Doug Strong will be presenting a paper on similarities in surviving examples of 14th century armour. Exact title to come. Should be good. I will make sure to update here with any additional/changed info. The title is "Similarities in Surviving Transitional Armour" (pretty close Brian) It...

My Bad! I thought it was an aventail.

I have had two welded avantails by Knuut over the years-- one in mild and one in stainless. They are both solid and have never lost a single ring. Both are currently in use today. You cannot go wrong with his stuff.

As Randall Moffett points out-- these are 15th century paintings of 14th century events. Thanks for illustrating the point. I really like the Crecy picture in particular.

There is a Roman "swiss army knife". Maybe one of the Roman guys here will be able to point us to pictures. I assumed this would have been posted already. There seems to be several of these extant in museums, and private collections. Leading me to believe they may have been a common item. http://ww...

That is beautiful. Who made it? It is clearly based off effigal materials. They rarely included visors on effigies so there is no telling. If it had a visor its form and date (circa 1400) argue almost exclusively for a side pivot.
