Those holes you see are the lining holes and are smaller than an pe...

If I were choosing I would go with A&C. I have dealt with them in the past and they are easy to work with and open to changes in design. Also just because they don't have something listed as an option, ask. They tend to only put things up on their website that customers have asked for in the past. ...

If you are looking at the Leather Factory you might want to know tat Terry Tindall, who works there, is in the SCA. He has made armour and lots of leather stuff. Maybe he can open a door for you.

Could you post a pic or two? I'm assuming these are in the Rhodes book, which I don't have. (I can probably look at it next weekend if I go to Coronation, though) These are not published in the Rhodes book. They came out of Chalcis. They are not often published but there are quite a few of them. Fi...

Definitely a segmented bp. The cuirass armors I wouldn't consider split in the middle, since there is overlap. Do any of the cop that open in the center have a reinforcing plate underneath? Any evidence of them via rivet holes, if no plates survive? Some cloth garments have fabric to cover the gaps...

So are those parallel lines....the equivalent to a spangenhelm band.

Spangencuirass?

I see the lines as possibly representing applied borders like the ones on Churburg #13

Alcyoneus wrote: You really don't want a split in the center of your torso

While I agree this is not optimal there are plenty of examples of armour that is split in the center of the torso. look at the so-called waistcoat cuirasses of the 16th century or even the roughly contemporary corrazinas.

Interestingly, there is a helmet which was excavated from the field of the battle of Sempach where he died in 1386. It is a typical conical snouted, side pivoted "international-style" bascinet.

I need to correct something. My gautlets are actually thicker than I thought. They are closer to 18 than 20. They are spring though. The gauntlets I made are 20 spring. I was remembering wrong. The point is the same because I have not had any problems with my gauntlets either.

There is no reason to add a washer to a vervelle. I have handled many orignal bascinets and none ever had washers. The only reasons I can think of to so this would be aesthetics (Alcyoneus prefers the look) or because you do not want to cut down the shank so you need to build up the thickness of the...

What is the source for "Dyeing veg tan leather black"? It would be very helpful to me if you had a 14th century (or slightly earlier) source for this. It would end an argument I have been having over black leather.
