Re: looking for a vervelle supplier
Tis a shame as the larger ones are so nice installed and polished up. I really like mine. Tim Thanks Tim. I have made and sold thousands of them so far. Batch one was a small run and it was brittle and had to be annealed. I solved the problem and batch 2 was great. Batch 3 was brittle again but not...

Claude Blair and the Armour Research Society
OK, I'm bragging here. Claude Blair, arguably one of the most influential names in the study of arms and armour of all time, has read the ARS Journal. The following quote is taken from the December 2005/January 2006 Newsletter of the Arms and Armour Society . "Claude Blair has had the chance to see ...

I absolutely love the book. I have learned tons about medieval metalurgy by reading it. I recommend anyone who can afford to purchase a copy do so even if they are only doing it to reward Dr. Williams for his exaustive work and to encourage further study. I cannot get over how many different pieces ...

WTB: Long bow
I am looking for a fairly inexpensive longbow for my 7 year old son. I do not know much about archery but he is nuts about it. My son is a lefty if that matters. The bow can be old and it does not have to be completely authentic but I thought I would look for something that is not a recurve. I would...

There's a front view in 2,500 Years of European Helmets and the same view (but much smaller) in Die Manessische Liederhandschrift in Zürich . I suspect Curtis poached a stock museum photo for his book, especially as it isn't out of focus and ill-cropped. Clare Hi Tracy: Do you have a copy of Die...

The Traun River Great Helm

THe skull with lamellar you mean is Bytor. My dog-brother. The lamellar is the same design my kit is. He made the skull helmet himself. It's pretty badass. He likes the later period grotesque stuff a lot. That is a really amazing piece of metal work. I did not recognize Bytor. Last time I fought hi...

#2 The crease up the back. I allways though that the crease ended on the top cap and didn't continue down the back. I've never seen any photos from an angle to say one way or another. Did you have any sort of information that lead you to putting a crease down the back? He is right about the crease....

I took my original persona name (Talbot Mac Taggart) from a character in a short story I wrote when I was in high school. As I became more serous about reenactment I wanted a name that was more typical for the period and more English. A few years ago I changed it to William Talbot. Since everyone ca...
