I buy it here in Chicago at my local shoemaking supplier. They are extremely unfriendly to the general public but the are nice to wholesalers. If you do not need it in the very near future I can grab some for you but it will probably be months before I go.

Here is my concern about this. I am not trying to profit from the sale of Churburg. I simply had a photocopy that I did not need because I already own the book. It was included with the huge group of armour books I bought. Since I did not need it I wanted to find a home for it. This book is still in...

(I always liked this book but my old copy is falling apart.) Also, check your PMs in re: the Churburg book, please. Klaus It is yours. just foll...

Mine must have gotten lost then as it should have been here early last week. Since you deleted yourself from the database yours was not sent in the US batch. I manually created a label for you and sent one a couple of days later when I shipped the international batch. Have no fear, it is on its way.

I'd say 2005. Sorry, I could not resist. The Philly visor came from Chalcis and is probably Venetian. It is a bit of an odity even for Chalcis as it is more primitive than many of the other visors from that source. It probably was a local product of Negroponte and was probably made after the turn of...

They belonged to one of his friends. Apparently he and Polidor bought a ton of books together from Europe. There are a few that used to be Polidors though.

Throughout the time of plate armour a lot was articulated on leathers or points. These allow all the lateral movement anyone could want. For the harnesses that have neither the slots nor the leathers the roation seemse to be allowed by vambraces that are looser near the wrist than at the elbow. I ca...

Doug: They can actually rotate that much? What kind of slot length are those? I think I've been doing things really wrong. The slots are about 2" on the ones I have made. It is tought to tell on the originals since most pics are shot from the outside. I have only seen a few from the inside. Doug

While not directly answering the question of how much rotation you should get but in the 14th century, when the first full arms appeared this was apparently a concern for the armourers. Typically Italian arm harnesses from this time period have three lames-- one toward the rerebrace and two toward t...
