It is not a website but rather a book:

de Hoffmeyer, Ada Bruhn. Arms and Armour in Spain II, A Short Survey. From The End of the 12th Century to the Beginnings of the 15th. Madrid: Instituto de Estudios Sombre Armas Antiguas, 1982.

Don't do it! There is nothing remotely authentic about them. A bucle would be much better-- and I 'm not just saying that because I make and sell medieval buckles.

And don't forget sallet! That word was used A LOT that weekend! -Tasha Even to the point of using it in several lectures for what most of us would call a baurbute. I thoght that was interesting and gave me food for thought (what with the confusion in Italian when words barbute and bascinet both pos...

Which presentations were the favorites?
They were all great but I really liked Dr. Capwell's presentation on 15th century armour for war. The newly discovered cuirass blew me away.

Probably the most disappointing thing was missing out on the Friday, informal gathering. This was caused by the hotel renting out the lobby where we planned to meet, to MLB to have a party for some local baseball team (GO ASTROS!). I did meet up with a couple other lost armour folks and we wondered...

I'd need a bigger picture but it looks like it should date 1430-1460. Is is possible that you misread (or they mistyped) the date and that is was not 1340 but 1440?

Mine stays up when it is put up and down when it is put down. The key is good contact between the pivot point (hinge) and the skull. If they have identical shapes and a tight rivet the friction alone will keep it up.

I don't know if Harald would have worn a crown. However if you decide one is appropriate you might look at the funerary crown of St. Erik. It is located at his shrine at Uppsala cathedral. He is a bit later than you are looking for (1160) but it may give you some construction or design ideas. It see...

Uhhh Doug? I was under the impression that both the visor and the hat are indeed quite genuine, and what is questioned is their association together. The original barbute has a more acutely pointed bowl - like the point on my sallet Patrick Thaden made, or the Franco-Burgundian sallet in the Vienna...
