Wow, the one on eBay is $850 before shipping...

Anybody know someone who could make one? I don't know anyone who works in bronze.

dutch oven bread

Yeah, I'm seriously liking the idea of testing one of those! Now Karl knows what to get me for our anniversary or my birthday.

Looking back at my bread recipe, looks like my standard baking time is 30 minutes, not 20. That's what I get for typing first thing in the morning!

Re: trivet

Metal trivets seem to be the secret to baking bread, pies, etc... in a dutch oven. They allow air/heat to circulate without burning and sticking. My wife has even found huge ones for her largest dutch ovens which she uses to bake excellent breads and pies at many events. Most folks just use these t...

free tin

You can ask her at the email or phone number listed in the original post if they can do that. I live on the opposite end of the country, and only know about it from email; I'm afraid I can't help much more than passing along the offer.

FREE sheets of tin in Charlotte NC

My sister has 4 sheets of 3'x3' tin from a building remodel last year that she'd rather give away than haul to the dump. According to her boss, it's standard commercial-grade duct material that has never been used. If you are interested in getting it, here's how to contact her: By email - please put...

Pas text translation, part 3

These passages or emprises happened so frequently in France that, as soon as peace was made, a number of the knights would form a league together in order to travel to another of the several possible locations to prove their valor once again. Between Calais and Saint Jaquevert a list-field was built...

Pas d'arms text translation, part 2

When the cartel for a passage of arms was published, word spread quickly to far places, and soon knights from all over who wanted to prove themselves against the guardians of the pass would begin to arrive at the held location, and ladies who were curious about these sorts of spectacles, ordinarily ...

Pas d'arms text translation

I translated the following text from an 1846 French book on the Chivalry. I found it an interestingly different take on how they were organized, and why they have the name passage of arms . This is only the first part of the chapter on pas. If anyone is interested in more (the author goes on to desc...

German dance music

Given how soon the project is due, there's not much I can pull for this time around. But you may be interested in Tugend und Untugend, which is a CD of songs from Martin Luther's era. I can't seem to lay my hands on my copy at the moment, but I seem to remember 30+ songs, some with words. On the sam...
