Re: How to build an armour bench. With drawings and picture

I've thought about getting a plane and smoothing the top. I also thought about putting down a sheet of plywood on top but I don't want to glue it down and I don't want it to rattle/vibrate when pounding. I could put a lot screws into it, I suppose. I second the masonite. When I built my woodworking...

Re: making 1st helm - tool question

I dunno, guys, whereas I'm a big, big fan . . . files are part of a two-tool solution. The other half is the vise. And I don't have a vise that I can put a helm in, without causing more problems than I'm solving. I'd build a suitable wooden claspy thing, probably using a C clamp or pony clamp... ht...

mjaay - Spear or proken pike -/= madu. Dump the buckler/basket hilt in the middle, use a gauntlet, and it is NOT the same. Didn't see any mention of "basket hilt" in the description of the banning. Not that it particularly matters. Once again someone in a position of authority is using their position to make a regional convention a society-wide rule. There is still trouble reconciling the front view with the side view. I think the big issue is photographic distortion. So, here is my question for the folks who use 3D graphics programs. Lexan is a polycarbonate. You will have a difficult time getting most types of paint to adhere with any durability, but epoxy and enamels are your best bet. I'd try spray adhesive to mount a lightweight canvas, and then painting that. I've used cheap painter's dropcloths.

One trick for getting clean edges with tape is to first paint on a clear coat. This will seal the edges of the tape, and if it bleeds under, well, it's clear. Also, don't lay on your color too wet and thick.
