To my mind, swords have points. One can choose not to use the point, but the presence of a thrusting tip changes the fight to a more realistic one. One fights differently when the threat is there than if it is arbitrarily removed. Personally, I probably throw thrusts in S & S less than 5% of the...

Are your fanless cops for concealed elbows and knees still available in 14 g.? I noticed the option the other day, but it seems to not be available on your site anymore.

It was sold as 5mm, but it calipered out at 3/16", or slightly less (4.75 mm). Finished blank was between 9/16 and 5/8" thick. The finished size is 22"x31", so I was able to get enough for two blanks out of a 4x8.

Armor repair basics

What tools would you recommend for a basic shop setup to repair armor? Not so much make new stuff, but dismantle, un-dent, reshape to form, polish up and reassemble various pieces. Not, field repair, but a refurbish job. I have basic field repair stuff, like leather strapping, assorted rivets, small...

OP: a heavy, natural fiber, soaked with a glue sizing (50-75% glue to water mix), and applied to the wood should do well. Cotton canvas is probably the cheapest available.

But I feel it's up to each fighter to make sure they are armored well enough to prevent serious injury. The marshals can't really help you here, nor can you opponent. We had a pet squirrel as a kid. They are about as trainable as a rat. They also poop everywhere. That said, they are a fun pet.

If you are capturing a wild one, be aware that, at least in SoCal, they are a prime carrier of bubonic plague; be careful and de-flea it.

Fabric is so variable from bolt to bolt, that I hesitate to give a rule of thumb. Best just to get a sample swatch of your construction drop tested. That said, 3 layers of a good linen should do the trick.

Feint in Tempo = 3 shot combo? Maybe? As I understand it, a feint in tempo is something like "extend along a line, anticipate the parry, disengage the original line to second intention and hit." Am I correct in this? If so, there are several options in armored combat that include a decept...

Nonetheless, there exists a point beyond which we shouldn't ramp up another notch on the force gauge. There's two ways of dealing with the "excessive force" rule. Either the hitter decides what is excessive for him to throw, or the receiver decides what is excessive to get hit by. Now, the...

It cannot be excessive unless the person struck states that it is, any more than it can be good or light unless he states that it is. My reply was in the context of turning up the power to "11". If the range is from 1 being totally inadequate, 5-8 being normal power range, and 10 being top end, then 11 is into the excessive range. Now, obviously, the 1-10 scale is a sliding one, depending on individuals and local norms, ...

But how can the blows be considered "excessive" if the receiver won't even admit they are valid blows? That, to me, is the problem with your stance. If the opponent refuses to take anything less than an "11", then "11" can't be considered excessive. It is breaking the ...
