Garage Sale: All gone. Thanks!
Greetings! I'm doing a closet cleanout...so here we go. Shipping to USA only, (customs is a pain), and is not included in prices. Additionally, I can deliver to Lilies, Pennsic, or Battlemoor. Or if your in the Outlands, we can make use of the SCA express. Don't like the price? Talk to me! :) Now fo...

Re: Separating the sheep and the wolves
I've been the "newbie" on the list field for over a year now. I still don't have my armor together - but it's a process I keep saying. Last year was my first year teaching. Which was exciting - and incredibly busy and utterly stressful. I put on the loaner gear a few times - but frankly it's borderl...

What problems are you having? Registering Arabic names isn't impossible. Registering combined Anglo-Arabic names can be a challenge.

Re: Some decent (and cheap!) garb for sale.
It's not his fault. It wasn't posted other places. I had a few questions that I asked via PM because I wasn't going to call "dibs pending questions" and one thing led to another and I ended up buying a bunch of it. I sent the paypal at 11:30 and promptly went to bed. If anyone is to "blame" it'd be ...

Photos are still coming. I've just been absolutely non-stop since I got back. I'm hoping by the end of this week. The grand total was 1130 photos so it takes a bit to go through them.

Dress is done - I should be nice and toasty now if things get chilly. My sister just informed she will be staying with me instead of with my parents. Guess I should finally finish cleaning out the spare bedroom from moving in... and she comes in before I leave CiT. Oh well, more adventure!

Thank you Jehan. I should arrive Monday around noon. I did realize last night that it's going to be a new moon while we are there which adds ...

I would like to tentatively join this enterprise if it is acceptable. This would be my first foray into a high-fidelity event but it sounds like a lot of fun. I definitely would be portraying a more commoner impression as I'm just starting to build my kit. What would be considered the essentials of ...

Re: Butted or Riveted Chainmail?
Riveted is going to be lighter and stronger, but generally, more expensive. Butted, if it is not butted with care does tend to let the links pull apart as the links will rotate and unweave themselves through movement. If you are just getting started though, maille not a requirement or a necessity fo...

Next to skin layers -
What does everyone use for the base layers? I'm trying to build a 12th century kit and have it look as historical as possible, I'm also trying to avoid plastic and modern clothing. I've got hidden legs/CoP and it seems like I should have something under them and I'm not sure what. Loose fitting figh...

You would be better off not lining it all. Fake fur just doesn't come close to the feel and hand of real fur. Fake fur is (generally) too thick, too 'deep', and too stiff. Real squirrel is quite ... For the sake of options, can anyone point me to someone who would be willing to make me protective gauntlets for a reasonable cost? I would like to avoid mittens for the most part, unless someone knows a style or way to make them more dexterous. I splurged on an Icefalcon helm, so I'm trying to lim...

Sir Alec - I have a few questions for you on this kit - if you don't mind. In the other thread you stated that "Its a war kit so just meant to protect from the odd shot." If, theoretically speaking, you were to say, pass some advice along to a new fighter that hypothetically wanted to make a similar...

So I have an actual date I'm leaving the frozen land of eternal darkness (or light season depending) and am trying to finalize my kit so I can actually fight when I get back. I'll take both. I'm playing around with a hidden/integral gorget/mantle/haubergon combination and I think one of these might do the trick. But I'm not sure which so I'll take em both.
