If you already have a shirt made, you could cut on/add to/reform it to fit you better. You wouldn't necessarily need a completely new shirt just because you are switching to LH. Unless what you have just will not work. Or you want to. Then go right ahead!

I would say we use leather that is too stiff. Not necessarily too thick. My little bits of buff are thick, but flexible.
