Or maybe you should as the rules dont back your view of what we are doing any more then they back mine. The rules at this point include CA i dont think they should. I also think that when it causes an injury it will be removed. My hope is that it is removed before someone suffers a traumatic injury....

The list field is the place where Rattan combat takes place. Melee or tourney. Wars are melee combat. No, no it's not. the List Field is where Tourney combat takes place. A melee in a tourney is not the same as melee in War. From the Society Rules III. CONVENTIONS OF COMBAT A. General Information 1...

When i compare those numbers per capita with the numbers of people that do CA the safety numbers for CA is terrible. Balin That's not what I asked. How many injuries that you know of, have been caused by or during heavy combat. How many injuries that you know of have been caused by or during CA? 2 ...

When i compare those numbers per capita with the numbers of people that do CA the safety numbers for CA is terrible. Balin Please give me these numbers and cite sources. All i can say is that there are fewer caers then other hvys so 1 ca injury does not = 1 hvy injury. 135 Caers at Pennsic 4 helm p...

First and foremost... NOT ALL CA fighters yield. When I fight CA, and I see myself getting overrun, I will pull my dagger and fight. Second.... Ok there is no second.. I just really wanted to start of saying First and Foremost... Problem is if the CAer is using a xbow they can't they have to yield ...

CA is unsafe, unfair, unchivalrous, and should be banned those that want to use it can shoot each other in all CA battles. CA is unsafe? Think back in you time as a heavy combatant. How many injuries have been sustained from heavy combat? How many injuries have been sustained from CA. Give me truth...

Would it be possible to encourage combat archers to move to the rapier field? Rapier fighters already have good face protection, so arrows in the eye shouldn't be a problem. Those combat archers who can't fight effectively with rattan might be able to wield a rapier. The archers wouldn't need all t...

Very nice job on the gonne Sha-ul. I like the fact that it uses an already approved projectile. Would that there was some way to turn it over and fight with it as a club as well. Hmmmm... I'd fight against them. I'd be glad to employ them, preferably in massed formations! But would prefer it not be...

*Pulls out CA beating stick* (not that you get to hit them they just yield)K do we really want to? Let them use guns eh whats the difference between the gun pictured above or a crossbow? Oh wait I know the gun looks safe enough that it could be left unattended on the field and not be dangerous unlik...

I think it is how you block that causes the front corner to bend. Do you reach out and intercept block shots that are coming in? If so that most likely means that the force of the shot is all right there on the corner with your hand under it acting like a panishing ball. My first shield was a stop s...

I was told not to use a stabbing tip when i was coming up because it is a crutch and would hurt my other shots because of how easy it is to stab someone. I am speechless about this comment. Don't stab because it is too easy to kill by stabbing? Well it is easy to learn to be effective with a stab a...

Thrusts though are easier generally speaking to land and have a greater chance of hitting gaps in armor. Instead of denting mental they break a rib. I am not worried about someone armored for the battle of 30 getting hurt with a little tip it is the guys in SCA min with alot of unarmored areas. Why ...

Keep seeing a thrust to the chest slide up and into the chin. With Tips on this happens less often, and when it does the tip runs into things taking much of the force away. I think monkeying around with our weapon standards without changing our armour standards is just asking for injuries. Our armou...
