The new merchant's layout was weird. I normally walk through in a weaving path so I know I hit all of the shops. It was interrupted in weird spots, and a few poor merchants were off all by themselves. Gossip is that we only have one more year at this site, then we may be moving back to Schnep Farms...

Are these the same as the ones tested in the 90s at least up in Artemisia? They sound the same but they may have been another poly something. The ones tested in the 90s got super hard when cold hit like night sticks and were very sloppy when temps got higher. So sloppy that they would bend into a U ...

If i showed up at a rapier fight with an Aten tourney heater... I've seen that done several times here, especially in melee; it's never been a problem. Does that get a bad reaction over there? Really? Ok i have not seen it honestly ever and was just trying to pull something that i thought would be ...

For a group declining in membership we sure seem to be going out of our way to get people to leave. Are we? Last i heard the SCA as a whole is reporting more members not less. The fact that we have MANY new kingdoms in the past few years attests to this fact because to be a Kingdom you have to have...

Greetings It has been my premise that ultimately safety and 'getting along' are intertwined. You don't impugn somebody's motives (in thought or deed) and turn around and give them the benefit of the doubt. There has been only one method that in practice has worked for me and others (to my observati...

There ARE some things I feel could be done in CA to both balance the game and improve safety without adversely affecting CA'ers enjoyment of the game... 1) Clearly publish that arrows must hit like a single hand thrust (face or body). This, along with the clarification that only the guy getting SHO...

and enough with this chicken little mentality that this is just some way to get rid of ca. Duke Avery, I've been playing this game for nearly 15 years now. I've seen the combat archery rules change time and again over the years, and heard the arguments made for them, and it is clear to me beyond an...

She was pretty shaken up. Then again, having a 6 foot piece of rattan strike you in the face when you are unaware of it is pretty disconcerting is my guess. SCA combat is inherently dangerous. Watching SCA combat can also be similarly dangerous. There is a risk to being anywhere within the vicinity...
