With respect, Alfred of Carlyle *I bought a handful of Hightower x-bows at one point with the intent of assembling a company of heavy crossbowmen that would target opposing archers only, then retire the bows and engage with heavy weapons. I later decided I simply did not have the energy to move this...

All kingdoms should require balls or something on the prods to prevent them getting into eyeslots. Why do you think this is necessary? The bows aren't being used to strike someone. When I read this, I get the same creepy-crawly feeling as when I hear about marshals restricting spurs or expressing c...

Ok Ok how about we make it so the all CA weapons be required to be durable enough to take repeated hits on the field without failure. All kingdoms should require balls or something on the prods to prevent them getting into eyeslots. Also all bows should be made that if the do fail they can't hurt an...

No one had answered me. Not really a trolling more of why do allow this one weapon on the field that is dangerous to the user and those around him if it gets hit? Not only that but they can come right up to the shield wall and fire putting themselves and those around at risk. how many times have you...

... Why can't i hit A CAers weapon?... Because it's unsafe. Nobody wants to have a broken piece of wood or fiberglass on the field that can stap through an eye slot. Not to mention what would happen of the string tangeled up somebody's arm or leg. It's a dumb idea even if you hate CA. Wow! We shoul...

Plumed fighters thought the SCA said that light fighters were not leagal anymore? 1/3 of the field filled with wankers you can't hit back? That sux. Again if we increase the poundage CAers will seriously hurt a spectator. They brought a tear to your eye really? I dont know sounds horrible to me watc...

Estrwlla every year for the past couple as held a CA tourney. The quick and the dead kind of a quick draw and load. A ca only event where would be the fun in shooting at people who are only watching for other Caers. It's so much easier to shoot at engaged fighters, or fighters walking back from the ...

Couple of things. If you up the poundage of the bows or make them unpadded heads they will kill a spectator if it wanders into them. 2 PiP is used in the west kingdom not at estrella if it was CAid would have kittens...again. For all the downunder folks how many people do you get a a big war down th...

First no shafted arrows. No firing into engaged units. (might hit their own troops) No Xbows (thanks but leave the giant spring traps home) no gleaning Limited arrows(12 or less per battle or res) Limited target areas(PiP face only etc) Limited battles A way to keep spectators safe while allowing th...

knee fighting for the following reasons: A. combat archery allows more participants. B. combat archery can be reformed to deal with those who complain about it. Knee fighting really can't, imo. C. my knees will thank me. Mord. A. No there are many other weapons, and seeing as how i know 50+ year ol...

Well depends.... Are we killing each other for real? In tourneys i can see it either way we can best our opponents and have them yield the field to the victor, or the more drama filled death. On the melee field though as long as we continue to allow CA we are killing those that are against us. I thi...

Agree +10 Hi Richard, I hope you are well. I just wanted to quickly disagree with you on one point that you made, I am pretty much totally in agreement with you otherwise on your fine list: Siege bothers me far less than CA. Why? For some of the reasons given above. 3. Siege weapons guys don't do th...
