Archery= Laurel Balin I don't know. Is the Order of the Laurel, as practiced in the SCA, the right place for someone whose expertise is in the combat arts? It seems more odd to place these warlike fellows in the midst of illustrators and embroiderers than to place them within the chivalry. Neither ...

Are you saying it wasn't? Heck if we(sca) are going to allow them to fight then they get to work towards the fighting peerage. Balin <snip> Fencing was used by rogues and thugs <snip> Balin Oh? Really? That's about as accurate as a 40lb sword, and tipping a knight on his back so he couldn't get up a...

I really wonder about this idea some of us have that medieval archers only fired en masse. If someone could show me reasonable documentation that medieval archers were only used en masse, I would be grateful for the lesson. Frankly, why does this even matter in the SCA context? Here are the only qu...

No. After 40 years a new peerage will be treated as a lower peer. CA is not worthy of a peerage ever. Fencing was used by rogues and thugs and even in the SCA the tourneys and battles lend to that same thread of thugs. Not peerlike sorry. BTW i think it is pretty cool and had it been as big when i s...
