Back in biz. w/ a junkyard (well second hand store) special with pieces of the old buffer grafted on (lemme tell ya, when you can weld you can do anything) but it works well enough.

I found a 1hp electric motor at a local second hand store. Its a huge thing, I have ta clamp it to my bench and move the piece to the buffer instead of the other way around but it works. Didnt really have a means for mounting a buffing wheel. You really DONT want to know how I got around that....

Its 14ga. top, 16 backplate and faceplate. I dont normaly use 16ga on helms, but I was outta anything else. The eye slot is 7/8". I have, however, agreed to an offer of $150. If someone else wants one, I can get my butt back in the shop, on a "pay when its done" kinda agreement.

I got an old clunky ugly openfaced barrel helm that I finaly quit using myself that I could part with fairly cheap. It was my very first armoring project, so its ugly. But it has stood up to 2+ years of blocking with my head, so its quite sturdy

Its currently padded to fit me, so 24.5" at the browline, and the lowest point (thats the bottem edge of the visor) is 11" below the browline. There is room for LOTS of padding in the top. Some smaller ppl may need the visor trimmed down a bit though. Again, Im really not sure what is fair as far as...

Assuming you intend the helm for sca combat I would not go over about 1/2" to MAYBE 3/4" between your 1/8" rivets.

I use a 3# sledge with one end ground into a half sphere, and an ironwood mallet. Into a wooden form. Btw, tried calling you today, aint you ever home?
