Re: double or triple planishing...
someone may have covered this above, if so sorry for the repeat. Planishing smooths out a surface by moving material, as opposed to REmoving materiel. Thus the more (or better) your planishing the less metal you have to remove (by sanding or whatever) to get a fine finish. I personally am not all th...

Re: Armor to work around a knee brace.
When I first started playing this game I was only about 6 months past knee surgery. I used a mcdavid articulated knee brace (the kind with the funny ratchet wheel looking hinges). I just used an over sized articulated knee. It had to fit the knee brace with hinges, and I found that I needed extra pa...

Starter buckets are $90, add $25 for the nasal and $15 for the full grill would put a helm like this one at $130.

Re: death in the family
Thanks everyone. Grandma Beck has been ill for a very long time, the doctors have been expecting her to pass "any day" for the last ten years. I'm sad to see her go but at least she is no longer suffering. Survived by 9 sons, 5 daughters, 33 grand kids, 77 great grand kids, and 19 great great grand ...

My grandmother passed away last night. I can't afford the trip to Missouri right now, but my parents went. That means I have no day care for the next week or so, so output will be slowed down for a bit. Sorry for the delay.

I use to work in a screen printing shop, so I made my arming cap out of a miss printed underarmor shirt. (not sure I would recommend BUYING one for $90 just to cut it up, but if you have a worn / torn / outgrown one laying around...) Seems to get the job done.

Nice hat, I like the shape. Might be an easier sell if it had a face however. I usually do a removable bargrill, which leaves the buyer the option of getting some other kind of visor made in the future.

I for one wouldn't mind working on them just to check out the pattern. You might consider adding an enclosed thumb while you are at it.

AHh. Ok. To be honest, I have never given much thought to the sca's use of rattan for weapons. It was that way when I found it, always just took it for granted.

Re: 17ish gauge greathelm nice big helmet for sale or trade
I can shed a little light on this helm, given that I made it. It was made for a local kid who wanted to do sca youth fighting. The metal is 16 gage galvanized, with all the zinc sanded off. (which may be why its measuring out a little thin for 16 gage in some spots) Its big, cause he was a big kid a...
