I use a charcoal fire hotted up a bit with forced air (my air supply is a little garage sale electric tire pump) to heat the metal, then alternate between wd40 and food release spray. Usually takes about three repetitions to get a good, dark and even color.

Yes, she is the smallest that I have done a spangenhelm for. I have made a basinet in her size in the past.

IMO loaner gear SHOULD be ugly and just a tad awkward. It helps it stay loaner gear, instead of getting "adopted". I hate the giant mouse turd on a stick look as much as anyone however...
