Re: my first attempt at a spangen/ crusader face helm

One thing I noticed, the mid ocular band seems a bit wide. Assuming you want to be able to see people in front of you you may want to either trim that down or crease it more. Great first hat btw.

These two are a little different than my usual pattern(mostly because I had help making them), but they came out nice.

Spangen for Voislava Pevtsova

One of two actually, but the other one looks just like this one bit a tad bigger. Plus my phone seems to have eaten that photo.....

Re: coming soon! Sugarloaf and greathelm from the shopmonkey

Do you feel that just because something is outside of your personal experience that it doesn't happen to anyone? I sure as hell couldn't afford to spend a bunch of money on armor when I first started playing this game. That's why I started making it. And as for starter helms ending up as part of the...

Re: Large starter buckets

Be happy to do it, but its going to be a little bit. I have a mess of orders to get through. Its something I should be able to get done during the fall / winter slow season though. Maybe sooner, the ShopMonkey is working out better than expected.

Re: Large starter buckets

Those are for up to 24.5-25" head with height of 8.5-9" from browline to shoulder. Can be used by someone with smaller head, just add padding. Typical loaner helm size.
Might not be a bad idea at that. Im pretty awful with a camera.

Large starter buckets

All the pics posted so far have been of smallish helms. Large starter buckets have the same amount of bargrill but greater facial height so they look kind of different. Plus they get some breaths drilled in below the bar grill.

It was worth quite a bit in terms of him learning. The end product will make some new guy on a budget a fine helm. Both seem like good things to me.

Re: coming soon! Sugarloaf and greathelm from the shopmonkey

Made to fit a 23.5" head, but greathelms are pretty bulky so you could likely put it on a bigger person and still have enough room for sca padding.

Re: coming soon! Sugarloaf and greathelm from the shopmonkey

Its hard to put a fair price on something when its not yet completed and we don't really know how well its going to come out. That said, the point in making these is to teach my son. I would expect prob. about $50 on the greathelm, prob. between $50 and $75 on the sugarloaf depending on how it turns...

Re: death by starter bucket

Generally I expect to get paid when the hat is ready to ship. A few people have chosen to pay up front, but I don't really like it cause then I feel like I have to bump them to the front of the que or its like Im just sitting on there money. So payment when the helm is ready to ship is what I prefer.

Any interest in 16 gage mild steel 3 pc knees and elbows? If so, what does everyone think a fair price would be? Its time for the 16 year old (henceforward referred to as ShopMonkey) to learn about articulation.

My intention is to have a couple starter buckets, a couple norse spangenhelms, and maybe a sugarloaf. Working at a rather frantic pace though, so I may not get all of them done. My first priority is getting orders that are promised by Pennsic finished.
