Waiting on answers to just a few more questions--cost of thick soles on turnshoes and cost of extra wide sizing (if there is an extra cost). Otherwise, though, it would appear that everything is ready, so, here's the price list from me. Note that the price is effectively cost of shoes + shipping fro...

Re: Westland Wholesale Shoe Order Mk. II

So, I'm now ready to begin taking orders for a second wholesale order. Problem is, I don't have a complete price list from Westland for all products currently being offered, and haven't yet received a package that contains a few test pairs of newer, more authentic Viking or Saxon style shoes as wel...

Re: laced or buckled....

Arrived at my parent's for our annual Fourth of July party, and was excited when my Ma handed me a package. I opened said package and took a gander at the nicely crafted footwear inside. I didn't try them on though. Left boot is the laced 14th c. boot Right boot is the buckle 14th c. boot anyone mi...

If he wants to start up an order and do it that way he's welcome to, but those wholesale prices you see are not doing to get the shoes to your door unless it's bringing five+ pairs and you're doing your own wholesale order. That's shipping to one location. Ie, a box of five shoes to one place in the...

Agnarr--I'm sorry. They do stretch quite a bit with wear, especially when wet. Try getting them soaking wet and then try to put them on, or get shoe stretchers the width of your foot and put those in. It's worth a try at least? Jestyr, Scott--A lot of people, especially men with larger feet, seem to...

Klappvisor means that the visor swivels on one hinge at the center. This is a primarily German thing. English bascinets of all periods generally had two hinges, one on each side. That being said . . . there are a LOT of SCA English personas with klappvisors. The is a representation of an English bas...

Really, by 1390, a well equipped English man at arms wouldn't be wearing much at all of that list. Breastplate, fauld optional, not CoP. Full mail hauberk and chausses (most people leave those out for cost and weight, which is understandable) Fully articulated complete plate steel arm and leg harnes...

Doesn't really read right to me.

Everything except the helmet reads earlier to me, except that you should have more mail coverage for real accuracy. And why not an aventail? The mantle is the one that's incorrect . . . a bascinet just doesn't look right without a tail.

I'm not very camera friendly.

I don't even own a camera.

To give more detail, I sent her a couple pairs of old 100% worsted wool suit pants (about 10 sizes too large for me) that I picked up at Goodwill and she turned them into trews that fit me.

Review: Lydushka's Completely Custom Creations

Wow. I have nothing but the best to say about her. I sent her crappy starting materials and a crappy job, with a time frame somewhere between demanding and ridiculous, and she produced an amazing product for me with a turnaround that would make Wal Mart blush, at a price lower than anything else I'v...

somedudeinutah--It's probably best to interpret both of those two sources with extreme skepticism. One is from 1890, the other from 1913--there's been a lot of water under the bridge since then, and we have a lot more evidence to rely on in making such interpretations. If you want to deal with the s...

I agree 100% about the toggles on the Viking shoes. I think custom placement is simply mandatory for proper fit. They fit a few people correctly right out of the bag, but most people need to reposition the toggles to make them fit right. So, after a long week's hard use, a bit of a review: Fuck. Yes...
