I was asked to cross post this from the private messages in case anyone else is interested in coming from Kentucky: Hey, I'm currently trying to get into early Medieval reenactment, ie real living history not SCA and boffer which I'm already quite well involved in, and am really hoping to be able to...

Yeah, Dagorhir or Belegarth. They're pretty much interchangeable to most people. Rules are nearly the same, lots of the people are the same, just a few egos on each side that can't live with each other.

I've actually found that there's a noticeable bit of difference between my linen tunics and the hemp twill one that I just got. The hemp is much softer, almost cotton soft, but its heat and moisture properties aren't as good. Wearing wool over linen has some major advantages in the heat, and it does...

It looks like he's trying to say that his pair that he wears has vibram soles because he uses them on polished concrete floors, but that he does not have any vibram in stock to do soles for a pair to sell to you.

Ooh, how long's the short one? I'm in the market for one that's more of a utility knife for cooking and camp work than a weapon, so I'm definitely interested.

Can I put in a preliminary dibs?

Just for the record, most people in Dagorhir who care even remotely about armour (which, unfortunately, is not many of us) snicker at those sorts of helmets too. They're pretty LARP toys that we wish would disappear back down into the aesthetically pleasing but wimpy pit that spawned them. In Dagorh...

A byrnie (aka brynja) is a short maille shirt, but it doesn't cover just the ribcages, it covers to at least as low as below the crotch. Icefalcon + 6mm Maille Review

So, I just purchased a haubergeon of the 6mm round-section maille from Icefalcon, and have nothing but the best to say about the transaction. Communication was good, the item arrived on the second (!!!!) day after I made payment, general customer service was excellent. As to the maille itself . . . ...

Hi,

With the half off sale, how much would you charge for one of these?

http://armourarchive.org/patterns/norma ... _halberds/

Not SCA legal, just like that, for living history use.

Sized for 23" head.

They're the only pre-1000 Germanic trousers that exist whole, and fragmentary finds (like, just parts of the gussets in one case) from other sites that would otherwise be unidentifiable scraps of cloth have been interpreted as trousers of this type, which seems to show that it was a widely used type...

Unless you're some poor, second rate peasant militia, it's worth adding.

But that early in the 14th, I doubt poor, second rate peasant militias had surplus coats of plates yet.
