Re: forge recomendations?

Samuel, I think you are asking for a critter that doesn't exist. The forges folks use to do armour are very specialized. I use a larger Farrier's type forge (NC Tool Whisper lowboy) and while it has room for shoes/axe heads, its primary purpose is for pattern & cable damascus. I would suggest you bu...

Master Eirik,

May I respectfully inquire as to why can I NOT find you on Ebay? Your prices kick tail all over the 2 rattan dealers on there now.

Amazing upgrade job. Its a completely different helmet.

Reminds me a bit of the ones from the movie "Excalibur" or "Sword of the Valiant" very much a Terry English feel to it.

Now if those matched up to the size & hole pattern of someone else's metal plates.... that'd be spiffy!

I've been wanting to do a 1/2 & 1/2 set of lamellar.

Forgive my ignorance.

What is the difference between the shaved and the premium? is it density or just premium is "skin on" ?

What diameter is the "premium" ?

Lil barge cement and some waxed heavy thread... no problem. 5 Minute fix. I just needed to punch new adjustment holes... got lazy... pulled harder than I should have and ripped it loose. The point is... I didn't rip the leather.

I wear a 10 1/2 EEE, His size 11 14th century boots stretched in to fit me well.

Oddly though I did managed to pull a buckle off one today... separated the glue and the stitching but didn't rip the leather. Its my own fault for not punching a new hole though.

One of the dumbest armouring injuries I've seen.... guy preps a llame for drilling, has a scrapwood slip supporting it inside a vice. drills his pilot hole at low speed, then changes bits & slips the belts to up the rpm. He misread the chart and set it to 4200 rpm... on a 3 HP floor drill press. He ...

Hjalmr here on the archive is your guy. Dunno if he does a Bascinet style but he does Norman. They are rough but decently shaped helmets and from all reports just about bombproof.

Does anyone know if BKS/Kerry Stagmer made good with our fellow archiver, Whonew?

BKS does make good stuff for sure but I've not heard that this got settled.

I.E. you'd be supporting a person who ripped off a fellow archiver.
