Re: Aluminum Gauntlets vs. Steel Gauntlets

My vote is for brush finish stainless. The finish mutes the color difference of the metal, lighter than plain steel of the same guage, tougher too. Its the difference between "Oops I left my guantlets in the grass outside the tent overnight..." and "Where's my wd-40?!? I gotta soak these before they...

The original buyer had to back out and his deposit has been refunded.

The helm is once again for sale or trade Illusion sells this new for $375 So I'd like $325 + shipping.

Simply. They grooved it close and then heated the tang to red and burned it in. Do the same, then drill a hole through the handle and tang, tap in a nice pin to match those caps, cut it close and peen or press it. If you want to make dead sure the handle will never loosen, after you burn the channel...

Ugo, You will be sorely missed. It was a hell of a lot of fun at the first one with you. Getting to see and wear the breastplate with the eyes was pure awesomesauce. Getting to see the inside of the pauldrons you had repousse worked made a lot of gears "click". Getting to shoot mild armour pieces wi...

Is there a particular style/pattern/materials you are looking for?

I have a single commission slot opening in March and I'd be happy to share some pictures of my work.

Re: Help with leather for strapping and floating articulatio

15th c. Italian faulds are all on leathers, no rivets down the sides. This makes them move a lot, but can make them less stable when they are whacked with a stick. Wade :D I got to learn something from this thread.... I thought faulds articulating only on leathers were an "SCA-ism" for expediency.

Re: Help with leather for strapping and floating articulatio

I know this isn't terribly helpfull at the moment.. The type of articulation usually used for the fauld was done with rivets sliding in slots (almain rivets) and some simply pivoted on a static rivet. When floating articulation was used it was normally seen towards the inside of a bend where "stacki...
