man gota find out what kinda bear he drinks. Bear tends to leave a bitter after taste unless chased with a .357 or larger. BEER on the other hand might help make a buddy...... Now if this man actually does drink bear..... I'm not sure I'd want him to take notice no matter what kind of toys he has....

Assuming you can't put a weightlifter belt on the person under the globose to satisfy kidney requirements....

Go here http://armourarchive.org/patterns/

cut a backplate pattern out of heavy 12 oz leather and add strap loops.

Thanks for the heads up on the giveaway. You do realize this looks like one of the East Indian decorator helms that are not SCA combat safe? This could be converted to a decent fencing helmet though.

I received these today. There was something I was unaware of that delayed shipping and James refunded shipping. Still 5 of 5 in my book. I'll toss the $ he refunded me back when the sabbatons are done. Now I know there's been long running jokes about Pens, rulers & other odds & ends being in...

Re: By your command - 14 g Stainless barbute - For Trade

Well.... Illusion sells them new for $375 + Shipping + 6 month wait. This one has seen very little use, has no dents but could use a buffing. So if Paypal only I'd look for $325 + shipping. I really do prefer trades though cause I have an excess of gear I can't use for either of my kits. I always se...

If I was welding it....

I would use E7018 low hydrogen 3/32" or 1/8" rod at 85 amps If the piece had only minimal surface prep I would consider using E6010 for higher penetration.

Ok.... its too close to x-mas so I am going to remove the helmet from sale. I'll put it up again sometime after new year. It will give me time to refurbish, blacken and re-assemble some other 14th century armour bits to offer with it as a kit.

Thanks for looking & overlooking the drama.

Thats because I have a pair of flannel pants stuck up in the helmet to take photo's. It is unpadded. If that's the case, when the helmet sits down where it should, the eyes will be ABOVE the cutout and grill, no? I'm sorry I didn't address this question before. Re: Old bascinet refurbish - Finished pics up!

Swansman No apology needed man.... Riveting bits on also never really looks right. Far better result and time savings to nab a welded top from Ironmonger or RFH and add a new riveted bottom to it in that case. The helm is a still serviceable, refurbished piece of armour nostalgia. If major rework ne...

Bruno,

Let me settle the lil cr*pstorm thats arisen before I consider pulling parts off it. Also since this helmet is set up with an extra bar inside, that part of that aventail is attached to, I doubt it would fit another helmet without taking it off the brand new leathers.

Re: Old bascinet refurbish - Finished pics up!

Swansman, If that was the case it'd be far better to retire the helmet and build a new one from scratch. Welding on bits never looks right and more often than not is actually dangerous from a safety perspective. Welds in thinner metal, especially flux core wire & Gass welding that isn't done by ...
