Re: Icefalcon Auction- Large Aircraft Aluminum Placard BP

Recieved this yesterday with the package ripped apart and re-taped by the post office. Its a testament to how industructable this aircraft aluminum is. No extra damage other than the previosly mentioned crack in the fluting which is very repairable and cosmetic.

5 of 5 even on the scratch n dents!

Re: Full Arms & Full Legs, spaulders and mail price drop

I recieved the arms leggs and shoulders yesterday while I was gone. The post office fubared the package but the exposure damage is easily fixable. Jonathan went an extra 5 miles with the post office to make sure it did get here. I give him 5 of 5. This man goes above and beyond, do business with him...

Re: Cheep drill press w/ stalled motor: repair, replace or s

In my experience, should it be a generic harbor freight/northern tool/chinese variety any small cased similar rated motor is more than an acceptable replacement. If it requires so much as an arbor adaptor to mount the pulley, forget it and time to upgrade to a floor model. I see em all the time on c...

Thank you for the pointer. The ones he has on his site are 18 guage (too thin for my taste) and are listed as "Call for pricing" which invariably means "More than I am willing to pay".

I just need a simple set to pair up with splinted leathers.

Looking for: 15th century couters

Who makes these?

I need a set of pointed, floating 15th century couters in stainless, to go with a set of knees I got from Lywellyn

I've checked several of the "usual" suspects but no dice. I'm even willing to order these from out of the country if need be.

Re: Erik the Red Weekend Sale at Viking Leathercrafts

On the laced 14th century... the tongue is welted on alongside the lace anchor and to the top. When the shoe is laced, the other side of the tongue is free and tucks under. Mine has about 1/8" of "tuck" when laced and when walking around in them tends to bunch a slight amount and pull...

Now that rig is made from a fresh 6 pack of awesome.... I think once it wears in you may find the knots on the ends of the articulation laces will pull through... the fix is to re-lace it with a single strand per row.

The black ones have 2 minor issues with materials and finish...

Hal, What kind of grind are we talking? Hollow? Its done freehand, on the contact wheel, edge up, on that 2 x 72, after everything else has been taken to 90% of finish. It takes hours and hours and hours of practice to get the feel for it and longer still to get proper plunge shoulders, no stop mark...

Re: Viking Seax type of knife

Hal, I can see even in this picture that your tang/blade shoulders are uneven. Take some 1084/1095 and make yourself a filing jig and get the transition smooth and parallel. Even if you don't solder a bolster on it, it'll fit up to the handle evenly. Typically one would drill a undersize slot in the...

Cotter pins you say? Hrmmm this bears some re-thinking. I could install them with washers as backing, creating buzz plates to take out the bell like ringing of this helm type. That is totally worth the time. I will also make the suggestion to a potential new owner re: drilling/punching for a sewn li...

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn114/clueX4_graphics/for%20sale/GEDC0334.jpg Total mea culpa here.... the top was done in 4 pieces and darted not 2..... You really have to admire the ingenuity of the earlier armourers. This was so smoothly done I mentally glossed the extra weld lines.

Old bascinet refurbish - Finished pics up!

I recently got a old bascinet from another archiver, Bayard. So far I have removed all the old leathers, drilled out a bunch of copper rivets, took out the dents and creases, chemically stripped & oven re-blackened it tonight. The aventail for it went for a trip in the vibe tumbler with some ste...

Ugo,

What is your current favorite pitch mix? what kind of backing do you use? could you recommend a tool list to start with? Hot roll, cold roll, 1050 spring? Do you acid pickle after heat treat? Is it silly to try to repousse stainless?

inquiring minds......
