Re: First video of my powered hammer.

Gunther, Nicely done but for sure consider replacing the rheostat idea with a clutch assembly. Spring loaded guide rollers with a Polyurethane or filled nylon wheel work a LOT better than self lubricating slide guides that wear out. Now even though this picture shows metal roller guides, it may spar...

Know what my solution to those kind of panic moments is?

Light up a big fatty. Relax cause you'll always find it in plain sight or the last place you look.

Hal take your grinding, as evenly as possible, to about 90% of finish making sure to keep the steel cool the whole time. If you can't touch it with your bare hands, its too hot. If it turns colors, its too hot. Heat it up to a glowing orange red, then edge quench it untill the back of the spine is o...

I have to admit, I've coveted a good brig for a while...as in years. So it was a bit of a punch in the yarbles....

But I know it's going to make someone very happy. 48" chest over pourpoint is MAX for sure and 42-44"" is right on... for medieval, not modern waist size.

It also doesn't quite fit on my mutant frame.... so it will be going with me to Medieval Marketplace

Guys, if I but had the time..... Voiders may be an idea because I can simply switch them to the 15th century kit w/o much fuss... but cost is still a factor. With one I get a full tunic for the same price range as voiders OR a skirt of the other

Re: Market Survey - 15th century brigandine kit

Weren't the ones with lung plates considered more 15th century and the one pictured closer to 16th? Just curious but either way I'd volunteer to alpha test, use a leather outer and nails instead of rivets depending on hole diameters. Tabbed is not an issue to me because I have access to a belt grind...

I am so sorry to hear this. I fell in love with that helmet and it tipped the balence in going ahead and ordering a Custom helm from Jackie.

If this is still around after medieval marketplace I will see about getting it back from you. Yes even though it doesn't fit me.

If for some strange reason dibs fall through on the arms leggs and spaulders I'd like them as a set. Disregard if not availible as a set.... a long shot at this point but nice to have a matching set for medieval marketplace.

Recieved the Globose today. Cian cleaned it & oiled it for shipping, what he didn't mention was that it also has a spiffy stop rib attached and nice buckles too.

I forgot who he said made it but it's very nice work. Thank you Cian

Re: Suggestions and Ideas needed - Shoulder protection

I'm no expert but this is roughly parallel with Sutton Hoo. It bears mentioning that underneath the decoration the construction methods used are pretty solidly copied Roman. So borrowing from Roman sources though 100 years out of date may not be bad advice. Now we know that the Scandinavians had tra...

Please allow me to express my thanks for resurrecting this resource. The 1411 impression is almost *DEAD* on what I've been trying to do for my own kit. It gives me confidence that though the pieces that are going into the kit are from varied sources it should work as a documentable whole. I acquire...
