I'm lucky enough to have short, thick arms. In fact I think I'd just be able to squeeze in some mouse pad in those.

Satheian,
I have decided to use the leather scales on a project and have decided to keep the Bow. ALL of the pictured gaming material is still available but has been boxed up and returned to storage.

I have seen several armours made from these plates and let me say the option of fluted plates makes for one hell of a nice looking and strong set of Lamellar.

Re: Help me identify the maker of this helmet?
Brand does his occulae very differently than this helmet... unless it was one from before he learned how to do locking cheeks... he used to ridge the simple viking helmets not rivet on a decorative center band... unless this is pre 1998 work from him. I do see some similarities though http://web.arc...

Re: Knife Blank...What to Do With It?
Here's an idea... Do the heavy bolster with 1/8" to 1/4" Brass. Drill & file to just slip down the tang with little to no gap. Use JB weld to fill any gaps. Take a piece of scrap brass and grind or file a chisel edge on it. Use that to remove excess JB weld, it wont scratch the brass! Do your leathe...

Re: Cheap Metal/Leather armor
Get a roll of 3" wide spring steel banding material, cut it into hundreds of small rectangular plates. Drill 2 sets of 3 drill holes set in a triangular pattern in each plate and rivet into a slightly oversized upholstery leather shell. Search places like Brettun's village for cheap leather If you c...

Re: Hessen Ironworks- A question-
How much is the fishtail & cross? Is it a flattened oval section rather than round in the opening of the guard?
Do you have pics of your viking fittings? Is it possible to get those in flattened oval rather than round, on the guard?

I was given permission to use these photos last year. For the life of me I cannot remember the name of the Worthy but he was a Count or Duke and had his armour stolen. I remember him as being a very nice and helpfull gentleman. This shows an excellent construction method for SCA combat of the leathe...

Re: Questions about brass chainmail in SCA
The maille in the advertisment is 16 guage BUTTED. Pretty much expect it to part like butter under the rigors of SCA combat. Aluminum can be anodized colors but again... even the riveted aluminum doesn't hold up well at all. Titanium? Yes it can also be colored... I saw a Titanium hauberk here a whi...

Re: I WTB a Varangian Guardsman in 1040
The leather backed tombstone Klivanion is Byzantine and is the best documented. The "D" shape lamellar plates are a bit of a wobbler... They found very few of them in Birka and are of a more Eastern / Central Asian influence. They would not be unknown but *I* would say they are better for a personae...

If there are any left, I'd like one valsgard kit size large in SS. And one guantlet kit in size large SS or CRS whatever is still available.
I'd like to talk about the vector files for the guantlets too.

I've had a gentle suggest via PM that if it is an early Windrose then it would have likely been made by Mandrake.
I have to admit I am just not familliar enough with Mandrake's earlier armour offerings to know.

Re: Help me identify the maker of this helmet?
Thanks for the idea and input Konstantin but I'm planning on soda blasting rather than converting the rust.
The center band is also going to be removed so I can more easily work on the helmet top but it will probably get refinished with a surface disk on a air die grinder.
