Re: Question on Selling Straps and Buckles
Copper rivets with roves, not pop rivets?
How about some chicago screws and a 99 cent store tube of superglue so you don't even have to dress down to repair?
So like a 3" lead on the buckle side finished and then 6" 10" & 15" cut & punched strips?
Will period buckles be an upgrade option?

Re: Grimr needs fast $ Yardsale
Alasdair, I think most folks have a good idea what a fair price is. I appreciate Losthelm's Thunderwinde & Benedek's offers even if they were somewhat low. No hard feelings generated or people scolded. If the mask for example was a cheapie $60 when new mask I'd have been happy to get $35 for it in g...

Thank you for your offer. A Uhlmann 1600N FIE mask goes for about $230 new. I won't go below $110 for this item.

Russ, No punishment involved. Like I said via PM, I'd never expect a customer to pay for something that they didn't like. Unless a project involves costly materials I rarely charge money up front, so if something comes up, it gives both myself and the customer an option of saying "No thank you" I se...

I cannot be a fan unless the 8 dollar and some change per pound pricetag pays for itself over a perfectly good used anvil in the same or heavier range for no more than $4.00 per pound that crop up all the time, all over the country. Check places like Anvilfire, craigslist, tool & machinery/farm auct...

Re: Folding knives from Novgorod excavations.
The oldest known pocket folding knife was found in Hallstatt, Austria and is dated to between 600-500 BCE
The handles can be wood, bone, horn, antler, bronze, brass though the bronze & brass is more common for the later period Celtic and Roman ones.
Things this simple don't change much.

Therion, KWT and KultofAthena carry them. Sounds like a custom gambeson you are after as well. Any reason you can't pad the arm armour instead of wearing a full sleeve gambeson?

Gypsy has a WMA Adam Berry helmet that would be just your size and the exact type you'd want. I turned it down because the goggle wasn't what I was after (later period Varangian vs 9th century ). http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q165/jkelley117/WMAHelm4Sale.jpg If I purchased the helm from him, wo...

English, Sweede, Dane? If I remember the Varangians of that late a period were armed & armoured a lil differently based on which Country they came from. Some had very heavily Eastern influenced gear while others clung tighter to what they were culturally more familiar with.

Question?
Are the plates aluminum, steel or stainless? Also what thickness are they? What did you lace them with and what color is the lacing?
I'm interested but won't have enough for it for a day or two pending a paypal transaction.
