Re: Coat of plates kits - still making them!

As cool as these are...

I'm waiting for the later period Brig kit to come out.

Seriously I have a stack of $ that doesn't exist for any other reason. Its in my sock drawer just for that day.

Sean,

Most folks who use hidden coolers simply make a shell with a smaller modern inner and fill the gap with expanding foam.

Big 5-7 gallon bucket, super hot water, 1 cup laundry detergent. Use a broomhandle to agitate and a stiff nylon brush. Pat dry inside and out with towels after cleaning/rinsing. Re: WTB/WTT Front slit brig plastic alum for chubby guy

How tall, what chest, waist and what weight are you?

I have a leather & aluminum corrazina I got from Somedudeinutah that is sized close to me but is really better suited for a taller man with a barrel chest. It needs a few minor repairs (restitching a few inches of leather seams)

It would be Blazoned;

I like this one better I think.

Use the flat black rustoleum on the inside. I suggest fully stripping any residual oils & such from the outside with Acetone, then doing several coats of paste car wax. I oil but not with gun oil or wd-40 but with thick mineral oil. Just a quick wipe after practice and don't put it away sweaty or ne...

Re: Straightening/reshaping a felt hat

The alcohol is for aesthetics, it's also the best way to remove any salts. The wool that makes up the felt as you may be aware is hair... when you see it under great magnification you can see that the hair has all kinds of little "ridges" that open up & relax with the heat & moisture. As it cools th...

Re: Straightening/reshaping a felt hat

First... clean the hat with a little alchohol... just dab with a alcohol damp rag. Next find a bowl that will fit the hat w/o stretching it. Next, set a teapot on the stove and gently/slowly steam it. This will cause the wool fibers to relax then re-lock. if it is still too "floppy" use some clothin...

Opinions wanted on my proposed arms

I am finally going to register Arms in the SCA after being given my AoA in '99. Shameful to wait so long, I know. I have finally come across a design I find pleasing but getting a local heraldry consult is problematic. So I ask those who are skilled in the language of Blazon, does this meet muster? ...
