Re: Combat of the Thirty Pennsic XXLI

... And the marginalization begins. How... predictable. Edited to clarify... I have spent over 10 years out of armour due to injuries. I have spent almost a year and a couple thousand $ to assemble a kit accurate enough to not just "slip by the rules"... So I will one day be able to attend Pennsic f...

Re: Combat of the Thirty Pennsic XXLI

Yeah.... do you think this would work? 60 odd fighters sit out the ToC in protest out of how many at Pennsic? I think that would work if enough people stand up in unity and make a statement "This is unacceptable." If I saw 60 belts delivered to a empty field you bet I would sit up and take notice. ...

The crowns of Caid had an inscription.... "You rule because they believe" The desires of the Crowns are stepping on the neck of one of the best and most reknowned gatherings of martial deeds. If they insist on this selfish course. Do what I advise people to do when they don't like the current sittin...

Re: A Question of style

Ka0z got into my head from across the country because we are working from the same effigy LOL. My plan is for a scale fauld for the Corazinna kit I got from Sean and a leather fauld with Spring steel banding strips for the Stainless Breast & back... as soon as AaronCarter finishes it. No problem Bad...

My vote is for a snazzy blued to match globose with a blingy stoprib... then add a leather fauld.

I forgot where I swiped this from so I hope the original owner will forgive me for posting it.

You should see my knifemaker's vise.... Its a piece of pipe, with a nut brazed onto it for the tightening handle... which is a piece of scrap wood with all thread epoxied into it. The contact wedges are 3" rattan, split on my bandsaw with a flat place for a end cut off of 1/8" 1084, also epoxied int...

You know.... I've always thought it odd that other knifemakers don't make stuff like this for themselves.

My blade shoulder file guide is 2 pieces of 1/4" 1095 drilled & tapped, heated to critical, then olive oil quenched.

Been using it for 10 years now.

Whatever way you decide to go I cannot more highly recommend using white latigo. Its hard to find but it is struck through and will not flake. It will take many years for it to even begin to fade and it will wear like iron. Are you planning on a highly decorous belt or something plain with fitting f...

This is for Andrea's benefit and very simplistic so please don't jump me for not giving a encyclopedic scientific explanation. Re: tinkering on a new helm

I like it...

if it were mine I would bronze the face and blue the cheeks/helm plates. Leave the browband & nasal shiny. I'd add a post & ring to the top & bronze that too.

That way you can acid etch the mustache and beard right onto the face.

Awesome work as usual Donngal!

Ramses you got your panties in a bunch. Go take a few deep breaths and a few grains of salt. Every merchant or artist has shit happen or go south through their own fault or a combination of things.
