Actually, it is "Al-ooh-min-ee-umm" (aluminium); "Al-ooh-mih-num" (aluminum) started because industry thought Americans wouldn't like the original, "hard to say" name.

The one time I used a shield basket, I hated it. It was too heavy, the balance was all screwed up, and I couldn't get the grip I liked. Stck with straps.

Far from thinking active marshalling is an "abomination", I wish we had more in the SCA. It works well in Markland, and we don't find it an affront to our honor. My mail holds up about as well as any butted-ring mail does. The newer stuff, such as Albion gets, is far better than was available in the past, now that merchants are going there and showing them exactly what we want.

A Roman-style crest block also might be appropriate (I really don't know).
