"Ok, here's the plan. Kill all of them before they kill all of us". "Good plan, boss".
I love this game.

Vitus- I wear as much as the "Nomadic Tank Harness", which has no metal at all on the legs. I'm also wearing plate, not mail. I have steel on my legs, almost as much as a fighter wearing 1/2 legs. I have been looking into steel bezubands, that would match my greaves. I really need to get new pics up...

I'm having a hard time visualizing how the mail could hang away far enough from the body to not hit the body during a "good" shot. However, think of a slightly different situation. My old helm had a very nice camail, very heavy. It was effective enough that I was allowed by the rules to not wear a g...

On my partner's bacinet, we're using a football type chincup (hard plastic), which will also protect her from the grill in case of the inevitable hard face shots. My Roman helm doesn't actually have one. Well, it does, to meet the rules, but it doesn't actively keep the helm on me, the curve of the ...

When I was squired, Knighthood was not a real goal for me. I had (and have) medical issues that prevent my progressing much beyond where I am in fighting, although they are somewhat better thesedays. In any case, my reason were many; to be part of something greater than myself, to have "place", and ...

I should also mention that, assuming I have enough rubber mat left over from the Signum, I'm also making a list-legal shovel and dolabra(pickaxe), for two weapon fighting (Florence isn't Florence yet, how can I fight florentine?). ------------------ Owen "Death is but a doorway- Here, let me hold th...

When the Legion does shows, it's kind of a combination of "staying in character" and "teaching". Sometimes, me, the legionary, can't adequetly explain things, because I didn't live throught the entire Empire period, or know anything about the history of my armor, etc, so I have to "step out". But it...

I think we're discussing two different types of hits, and after re-reading the question, I still don't know which was meant. First is a shot that snags the mail with the tip of the sword, like snagging cloth, on it's way by. Second is a shot that is coming straight in, but because of the way the mai...

Looking in from the outside, I like the idea of Knights having knowledge/skills OUTSIDE of military/martial ones. IIRC, aren't Knights supposed to be able to dance, play chess, etc.? The whole "courtly behaviour" thing. Isn't the whole point that of being a "Knight", not simply a "Good Fighter"? ---...

I vaguely recall seeing a pic of the Joan helm, and seem to recall that the holes BOTH appeared to be entry holes, ie., both were deformed in. They also seemed to be so evenly spaced, that I thought they might be the mount holes for a visor. It has been a while, though, my recollection might be wron...

If you mean a blow coming in towards your body, that your armor prevents from actually reaching you because of the force needed to move it in, then yes, you have to take it. Armor isn't a shield; a good shot on the armor is a good shot. For example; my old helm had a camail on it, that didn't allow ...

Many real polearms aren't very heavy. Axes are, but jumped-up spearheads aren't. The biggest advantage unpaddeds have is being 7 1/2 feet long. I think the speed helps make up for the fact that I can't shatter your shield and then you with two blows. Forget bitching about unpadded poles, I want to g...

Sir Richard- having been vicitmized by a broadly worded contract, I am not comfortable with relying on "reasonable people" to NOT abuse power they have been given. Remember, Ken Starr said that he thought that he, as Special Prosecutor, was given too much power and leeway, but he continued to use it...

For 21 years, that is precisely the way I and those around me have described the SCA; "The Good Parts Version" of the middle ages. Tournement, feasts, Kings and Knights, Lords and Ladies; without details like plague, no central heat, no running water, etc. That's why we're not reenacting. ----------...

Sir Richard- I have no trouble with excluding "real" criminals, it's just that, as written, the clause could be used to revoke the membership of someone for being convicted of a moving violation! More importantly for a liberal like myself, I could be excluded for having been arrested in an act of ci...
