Putting an illegal target (the knee) in the middle of a legal one (lower and upper leg) would likely cause problems, much like banning cup shots. The knees would probably get hit more often, and the potential for abuse (on both sides) is high ("nope, hit the knee", "Oops"). ------------------ Owen "...

It isn't so much below the knee, but the knee itself, that is the issue. Knees don't get better if you damage them (trust me, I know).

I (occasionally, now) where hamata in the SCA. It works, but get used to replacing links, especially if you, as I do, wear rigid armor under it, more than a kidney belt. The agravation and effort are worth the effect.

To me, treating my opponent honorably means not spinning him/her if they're on their knees, or making sure they aren't facing into the sun. After that, if they're on their knees, and I'm standing, I will proceed to attempt to beat them to death. I will also stand way out with my polearm and poke the...

I despise them. I will not give them, as I do not wish to insult my opponent. I will not accept them, as it is an insult to me. I care not how much better than I my opponent is, I have told them to stand back up/keep the arm. I understand that in some kingdoms, it is considered "bad form" to hit arm...

I love the books. I'm certainly a "fan", and will go in garb. "Fanboys", however, argue about biological precendence of elves' ears, and what was going through Kirk's mind in scene 29b of episode 31. Fans laugh about inconsistencies. Fanboys argue over what the deeper meaning of "so-called" inconsis...

I think the orcs look great; Tolkien described them several times as "parodies" of elves, which they appear to have done. Ugly as all get outt, too. Alexander- the edge wounds, the point kills. I fight with a gladius, and a thrust has almost 2 feet more range. With a longer sword, the difference is even more dramatic. Broðir-Mass weapons, like an axe, are required to have 2" thrusting tips. ------------------ Owen "Death is but a doorway- Here,...

Not if it's on the ground.

Besides, the regs specifically say "swords", not "single handed weapons". Spears are covered seperately, and don't specify one or two handed.

A one-handed sword is fairly easy to tell that it was intended for one hand; a 6 foot spear is not.
