Putting an illegal target (the knee) in the middle of a legal one (lower and upper leg) would likely cause problems, much like banning cup shots. The knees would probably get hit more often, and the potential for abuse (on both sides) is high ("nope, hit the knee", "Oops"). ------------------ Owen "...

To me, treating my opponent honorably means not spinning him/her if they're on their knees, or making sure they aren't facing into the sun. After that, if they're on their knees, and I'm standing, I will proceed to attempt to beat them to death. I will also stand way out with my polearm and poke the...

I despise them. I will not give them, as I do not wish to insult my opponent. I will not accept them, as it is an insult to me. I care not how much better than I my opponent is, I have told them to stand back up/keep the arm. I understand that in some kingdoms, it is considered "bad form" to hit arm...

I love the books. I'm certainly a "fan", and will go in garb. "Fanboys", however, argue about biological precendence of elves' ears, and what was going through Kirk's mind in scene 29b of episode 31. Fans laugh about inconsistencies. Fanboys argue over what the deeper meaning of "so-called" inconsis...

I think the orcs look great; Tolkien described them several times as "parodies" of elves, which they appear to have done. Ugly as all get outt, too. Considering the amount of armor they had to make, I really don't understand the complaints that it's not realy metal. Just because we're stupid enought...

The hobbits don't have pointed ears; where did that complaint come from? Watching "A Passage to Middle Earth" (on SciFi channel)right now; looks like ther REALLY tried hard to keep to the books. Alexander- the edge wounds, the point kills. I fight with a gladius, and a thrust has almost 2 feet more range. With a longer sword, the difference is even more dramatic. Broðir-Mass weapons, like an axe, are required to have 2" thrusting tips. ------------------ Owen "Death is but a doorway- Here,...

Heck, the Romans went back to mail before the end of the Empire; don't know precisely why, perhaps because mail is easier to produce and maintain in the field than segmentata. Mail would be perfect for almost any period, you'd either be really rich, or really poor, depending on when! ---------------...

I don't know if every example of the metallic tapes do this, but the few I've seen do act like thin metal, and I can see a slightly chewed sword covering flinging bits around. I've cut myself on this stuff, which duct tape has never done. ------------------ Owen "Death is but a doorway- Here, let me...

Me, I've never called my duct-taped wrapped weapons "metal". Then again, I don't use silver duct-tape; most of my current weapons are black w/orange edge markings. I want to be able to ID my weapons from a distance. As I have said in many other threads, the weapons not looking "real" doesn't bug me....

When I was still an active Marshal, one of the standard rules was to ask if a person would be willing to be hit by their own weapon. If no, then it failed, but that didn't mean it passed if they said yes. THEY might be stupid enough to get hit by it, but that didn't mean it was safe. And I can GUARA...

Would you drive better if you weren't distracted by all those pesky pedestrians on the side of the road, or the cars beside you? It's all a matter of being used to it. When I first got a helmet I could wear glasses under, I started seeing all the feints and fakes I hadn't been able to see before, an...
