Lucien- got them from Valentine, but they do not appear to make them (or any Roman armor) anymore.

Even with the better armor we wear now, a possible problem I can see with allowing them in the SCA is that it would place an illegal target, the knee, in the middle of a legal target, the rest of the leg. I think if that happened, we'd get far more knee hits than we do now; what do groups that do th...

Armor stand for Mail
Does anyone have any thoughts/examples of a stand to display mail that ISN'T like hanging it from a clothes hanger (I've tried that)? I've seen some nice plans for stands, but none would easily display mail, as it would have to be put over it from the top. ------------------ Owen "Death is but a doo...

Boots are desert issue, tan suede. I drew the caligae on with brown and black Sharpie markers. When I started getting into Imperial Rome, I figured that if I wanted to do something so far outside of SCA norms, I should do it as well as I can. Run with it, instead of using "early period" as an excuse...

Mail is off-the-rack Indian butted; got it from Museum Replicas, along with the shoulder doubling they used to carry. I only got the doubler to make sure I had enough rings to make the doubling that you see, the way they made it is completely unusable. I also added the leather edging. Long term goal...

Crest is four layers of leather totaling about 3/4" thick, with horsehair glued in between each layer. It's riveted for extra strength-I know it's a target and it gets hit a lot. The bracket is a piece of 1/2" wide, 3/32" thick brass strip bent into an angle iron, held to the helmet with two thumbsc...

Hehe, the phalarae are Pennsic XXVI badges! I donated money to the Chiurgeons to get them. The belt plaques are almost all of my old tags. Those are simple pewter buttons on the shoulder doubling, leather laces through both layers of mail; the back is laced on with mail rings. I like the way hamata ...

Sorry, Macbain, but your initial response does not read to me as "responding in persona", but as being upset that Bedlam was threatening the women, etc. If you wanted to reply that way, it should have been in the same vein as Bedlam's; over the top and HUMOROUS. ------------------ Owen "Death is but...

I've met Bedlam. I like him, seemed like a nice guy, fun and all that. The original post was IN FUN. ANYONE taking it seriously needs a severe reality check. Anyone taking offense at it needs to step back, take a breath, and THINK about what they are saying. I've had my own problems with the Tuchux,...

Holding the shield tight to the body, they may not be able to move it as fast, combo head and leg shots while trying to stay out of range. Throw lots of shots to keep them tied up defending. Use your range advantage as much as possible. If you can't, body check the shield; step IN when they are expe...

I think too many are seeing this as an "either/or" situation, when it isn't.
