Re: Questions on sewing arming/lacing points

Here's my take on the arming points portion:

http://james-anderson-iii.com/tutorials ... ing.points

It's a little outdated, as I've since moved the leather patches to the inside and only the points are visible on the outside.

Re: Cased greaves fit

Wade, thank you for the post and the insight. I have not had success with that method; that may be due to the nature of cased greaves vs schynbalds, or maybe my leg shape. I have small ankles, and large calves. When flexing, my calf muscle moves up and down the back of my leg a bit; not a huge amoun...

Re: Questions about gorget?

Possibly loosening the strap / making the leather hinge on the other side longer, but I'm not sure about the safety aspect of that. Doesn't look like you have any room to narrow it out and extend it forward. Maybe get one a size larger? I'd ask Stonekeep directly and see what he says.

Re: Cased greaves fit

Hi Will. I normally am, yes, but recently I have been wearing them without, hence the issues. Unfortunately, no, there's no loop on the back of my greave. I assume that used in conjunction with a pin on the front would help keep pressure off of the front of the foot. Lucian, are you wearing Sabaton...

Half wrap plates like that can be easily bent in/out a bit to match the curve of your arm better. For the price, they're good starter / interim gear.

I second the curled vambraces for time constraints, then replace them later as time allows (after this fair). One thing you can do with vambraces (or rerebrace, cuisse, greaves, tassets, breast/back...) is leave extra material at the sides, and after it's shaped, trim the sides flush, so that you on...

I once also had a similar problem with him. I happened to catch him while he was gone for some military training. As soon as he got back everything went smoothly. You might say..... smoothly as Ice :D Ha! http://instantrimshot.com/  Welcome back the other side of the pond, IceFalcon!

Another awesome review for Frank @ Viking Leather

I emailed for info a little while back when he was having his sale. We traded a few emails over the course of a few days (which in this business, is fast response!). Frank extended the sale prices to me, even though I bought after the sale, just because we were discussing options on items that I was...

Re: Embarrasing sabaton question...

Pointed under the shoes and tied through the holes on top seems like the right way. Like lacing mail chausses with points under the feet. It would mean no changes to the shoes. But the purpose of the laces is to keep the sabaton from sliding down the shoe. Since the toe is pointy, unless it was fir...

Let us take, as a rather extreme example, Maximilian armor. All those flutes effectively *reduce* the efficacy of the glancing surfaces. It was also at it's highest popularity around the time of the 'puffed and slashed' clothing. Also, see the Roggendorf armor. As another example, would you be kick...

I use a drill press for the holes and once I drill the first hole, it the drill bit always wants to go back into the first hole when I want to drill another one to make a slot. Center punch, like Buster said, but also don't make the holes directly next to each other. It should be a little bit "fart...

I might be part of the minority, but I like US made armor for two main reasons.
