Any of the pics from 09 here are in the direction I'm going in. The blue kaftan with white trim will soon be replaced with a red on with gold trim, also linen and the gold will be empbroidered shortly thereafter. Most of the pics aren't great because they are pulled off of video but they give the id...

This: In response to the earlier thread about vikings, the people I would consider the source of Huscarl combat - which is pointedly NOT SCA combat with rebated steel - are indeed a part of a group, but they most certainly are not, as huscarl enthusiasts, representative of said group. What I meant ...

persona indecisiveness now with pics

So I'm having some trouble with my persona/kit. I'm kind of waffling somewhere between Saxon/Dane, Rus and Varangian. 1050ish. I think I can pull that all together without any shipwrecks or being kidnapped by ninjas or what have you. Lately I have been drawn to basing myself out of Novgorod. Heres m...

I missed the above quoated post from Doug when I posted my earlier post. Scabs? Delicate? Bitches? Wow! You desribe all SCA fighters thusly. Why? What did I ever do to you to be insulted so? And from behind the safety of the internet where you cannot be held accountable for your words. Would you spe...

Hm, as entertaining as all this is, I find it and Dougs obvious trolling to be irrelevant to the issue at hand- that being the fourth peerage. I did find a lot of good points of view and insight in that discusion before it was derailed by stupidity and dickwaving. The thread is about to be closed do...

I stripped the galvie off of mine and then trimmed it in elkhide at the neck, cuffs and hem. Never oiled it so as not to scuzz up the elk, never had a rust problem. Usualy just stored it in a flannel pillowcase, and didn't leave it sitting in a stuffy armor bag.

if elf ears and orcs are an accepted part of your game you are a larper.
if duct tape is completely unnacceptable in your group you are LH
if your group is somewhere in between you are SCA :D

Some of my issues with CA- the armour of the time of our presumed standard was (largely) proof against the bows of the time, barring short range shots or shots to the face or other unarmoured spots. CA on the other hand, can kill anywhere they hit, from any range. Archery in period was most usefull ...
