Blackening/blueing stainless?

I have an Icefalcon stainless bascinet I`m thinking about blackening or blueing. Is this possible? If so, how? Also if so, how durable is the finish? Will weld lines show through? Will it affect the low maintinance properties of the stainless?

Elmers white glue, elmers wood glue, and titebond I and II are all essentialy the same thing. In the application your looking at the elmers white will do what you want just fine.

Somethings a little funny here- I seem to have racked up eight points at Birka. I did register for the tourney in case I deciced to play some, but I didn`t fight at all. The only fighting I did was two qual bouts before the tourny started. Other than that I did nothing but marshall.

I never fought in a butted shirt, but for a point of reference I fought about two years hard, then very part time in an Indian made,16g round wire, round riveted byrnie and lost a total of two non consecutive rings. Havn`t seen the need to repair them yet.

Hrolfr, I use a shield like similar to what you describe at practice sometimes- cabinet grade 3/8 birch plywood (no voids) with the edge routed with a roundover bit. 3/8 inch edge is the same size as some hose edged aluminum shields I`ve seen so shouldnt be a problem with thickness. Bondo, yup. In my job as a carpenter I use it all the time as fill on paint grade stuff (mantles, colums ect.). Cheaper than wood putty and a better finish. Never thought to use it on my sheilds though. Thanks!

My man at arms uses a planer and has no problems. I use a tablesaw and have few problems. I`ve also used adraw knife and a sure form. I always use a sure form on my grips to get them where I like them.

Ragnar bought that bascinet from me a while back and while I can`t speak for the powdercoating, I know its a good, solid, Ironmonger helm a little on the largish side. Ironmonger makes good hats folks.
The kettlehat is from White Mountain Armory. Need any more be said there?
