"Yeah, actually...who are you??! Have we met?"
Yeah, about fourteen years ago when I got my start in Delftwood. Think fourteen inch mowhak, a spiky leather jacket, and South Beech Street.

Duke Alaric, Thank you for that post on being a Duke. You put into words nebulous concepts that while I couldn`t vocalize, nevertheless drive me to someday achieve that station in the SCA for the reasons you stated. It was very inspireing, sobering, intimidating, and thought provoking all at once. A...

My endurance is getting better and my mental game is improving. My weapons depth is coming along OK too. My sword and shield which is my primary is at a good level...

the only thing that hasn`t changed in my kit in fourteen years of on and off fighting is my lbows. I use brine lacross elbows and sometimes atatch a simple steel cop to them. I have never had a problem with binding, sliding, rolling, ect. they are what I`m used to and I really prefer them. Unfortuna...

I do a viking/Saxon thing and I do have my axe "ticked out" with a thrusting tip and a buttspike. Myabe I couldn`t kill someone through the armor of the time with the bare butt of an axe, but I could definitly incapacitate them. I could deliver killing thrusts with the lead tip of the blade, but tha...

As part of my whole using persona appropriate weapons kick, I play with one some. Its not a primary form for me but it is fun, and moderatly effective. I find them better in singles than melees where the poles and spears have a vastly superior range. BTW, Verbrand is right in the thuggishness of the...

Adam, I`m uncertain what you mean by a sugarloaf sheild boss too. both of my White Mountain Armoury spamgenhelms. One is a roundtopped spangen with a long horsetail, the other is a conical spangen. I will second the recomendation on WMAs plates. The one I wore all season did see some hard us...

I think as was said earlier, it was likely because there was no pressure. I say this as the guy who was out in two last crown but was doing great in pick-ups afterwords. That is fairly common for me and a hurdle I`m working hard to overcome. Sad truth is, when I`m just fighting for shits and grins, ...

If you could MRKs, I`d like to see a picture of that three trigger set up, and if its not self explanatory, how to make it. I`m pretty sure I know what your talking about and I can see how it could improve shots and control, but never having seen it, I want to be sure.
Sounds slick though!

for the most part I echo the sentiments above. I have gotten a couple of hafted weapons from MRL that didn`t suck- I have two spears and a small bearded viking axe. One spear, the leaf bladed one, was pretty good. The lugged viking spear needed some work to be pretty good. Last week I ordered the be...

I have a similar "problem?" myself. I rarely show bruising. I`ll have a bruise- the spot will be temder and painfull, but theres rarely a mark to show from it. I even got a couple of ribs cracked this year and had no visible mark from the experience. This goes for body, legs, and arms-places I do an...

If I leg someone in the midst of a combo/flurry/ whatever, I will keep the set going. When I`m done, I will set back and wait for them to get comfortable, ask them if they are, then come in at them when i`m ready. Sometimes if I`m in a tough fight, I will stop gunning for a kill and take the leg for...

I have two WMA helms, both spangens, and I wouldn`t consider painting the grills. Plus, the paint would chip off real...

Madus suck. Sleazy weapons form that would be largely ineffective against our presumed armor standards. Didn`t exist in our time/geographical timeframe either. One doesn`t need to fight with one to learn how to defeat it, just use there brain before there stick. No student of mine will ever use one....
