As usual, Logan is right- the swords grip fitting you and a comfortable glove are very important. More than once I`ve seen someone who had real problems with there form solve it by shaping a proper grip. Not just form, but early fatigue and in at least one case a guy was getting tennis elbow (tho th...

Having been trained from the Master Feral school, I mostly use a thirty six inch sword, but last fall I upped that to forty and have been doing well with it. Still, for some opponants, given the choice, I use a thirty six incher. BTW, I`m five foot ten and a buck seventy ish. Generaly, I use the thi...

your friend is kind of a dumbass, isn`t he? Every so often I come across someone who finds out I raise pit bulls and thinks his rottie, or chessie, of doberman, or whatever can take them. I`m putting together a kit for a little later than that-seventh cent. Anglo Saxon, and I`ve found nothing (other than common sense) to prove that they wore any gambeson type thing under mail. I`m not too gung ho on that idea so what I`m doing I`m going to wear a light gambeson with light plastic pla...

review of some axes from Therions Arms

I recieved two axes from Therions Arms for Christmas, the Viking broad axe and the Dane Mammen axe, both of which can be seen here http://therionarms.com/AAM/weaponry.shtml I am quite impressed with both! The quality of the steel seems quite good, the workmanship is very nice and the overall appeara...

I`m in the process of building an Anglo Saxon kit for about the seventh century, so I`ve come across the same problems, but I think I`ve solved them all- Legs-low profile reenforced gamboised cuisses with steel knee cops under pants just baggy enough to hide the armour and be free moving. I will back all the reasons above- Safer because a basket hilt is much more idiot proof than gauntlets, and I`ve heard of people using crosshilts and decent gauntlets stll getting there hands munched while I`ve heard of this a lot less with baskets. Cheaper- a good basket and demi is a lot cheaper t...

I see it as valid and within the rules, but kind of cheap so I`m not likely to do it to someones weapon. All I ever wear on my shield arm is a roller blade elbow and a welding glove, unless I`m fighting with a center gripped shield, in which case I (sometimes) add a real elbow and vambrace. Still don`t wear a demi gaunt on that hand tho. Most of the folks I know wear the same on the shield arm.

As Adam said, I`ve handled both. Now for the unbiased opinion.- While Adams plates are smaller, do to the belly of the curve on them the overlap on each is more than on the rectangular plates, so that will take more of the sting out of shots. The tooling is very nice on them and as Adam says, they h...

I picked it up at crown too. It was definitly light enough for my tastes and I like light armor. And, much like Thaddeus, I would be swimming in it, so it would be lighter made for me.
