i have to ask, hes a new fighter and all. how on earth was he ever able to pull off looking like that without spending, what was it..... $1000? and how was he ever able to present that look without at least a years pass? those things, so the suggestions go, are simply not possible at all. clearly y...

Biggest suggestion? Put a contact e-mail on the page. That way, when you put something up that is wrong, people can at least e-mail you with corrections. Also, people can suggest things you may have missed. Darn near everything you wrote about Hjalmr is wrong, and has been for a long time- but there...

The size is usually stamped on the left side of the metal frame. They do carry multiple models, so a pic would help. Yup, especially when most of their models go new for less than what he is asking for a used one. Edit: after looking at the picture, it doesn't appear to have the removeable liner. T...

Although, like I said before, all Kingdoms must follow Corpora, so there is no need to put in a redundant law. How about "pre-17th century Appearance". Get rid of the "historical accuracy" wording, and I could almost live with it. Society Legislation suggestion: Each kingdom sha...

Your Grace, I am sorry (long, insulting post snipped). If the thread was at ALL about fighting, your 4 paragraph slamfest might have a point. It isn't. It is about APPEARANCE- and fighting skill or level of fighting activity has no bearing on the ability to have an intelligent opinion on how someth...

Society Legislation suggestion: Each kingdom shall establish policy or law that defines a minimum attempt at pre-17th century historical accuracy on the field. This policy must include wording to remove undisguised blatantly modern items from the field. I like, but with minor tweaks- Each kingdom s...

Let me ask you, Dauyd, what you understand the word "accuracy" to mean in the context of the marshalate's job description ? From my perspective, I cannot understand how it would not encompass appearance on the field. That is really beside the point I'm trying (and failing) to make. By cha...

My apologies- I wasn't trying to re-open that part of the debate. You have your interpretation, and I understand and respect that. My point was a little different. By replacing the word "accuracy" with "appearance" you have made the first step in what could result in a substanti...

Also, the job description of the Marshallate is two-fold per Corpora. Safety and appearance. We've gotten away from what was dictated a long time ago and have only focused on safety. Nope- safety and ACCURACY (of the martial arts). This transformation of the actual wording from "accuracy"...

I doubt that a "decent replica of a norse sword, good solid blade, good overall construction, no cutting edge. It is what i would call a stage sword. I bought thiss off of one of the seattle knights." Would be mistaken for a bayonet.

Wow- that is a bummer on that helm. It really IS tiny.

I was gonna get it for my 9 year old thinking it'd last him a while- but he measures 20 3/4".

My (nearly) 3 year old might fit in it at 19 3/4, but It'd be nothing but a toy at that age, and it is too expensive for that.

Maybe- that is (extremely) debatable, though. It also says "of the martial art", not of the clothing they wear while doing it. IMO, the argument fails on both counts. Nonetheless, the description still says "accuracy". This transformation from one word to another (possibly relate...

In my wonderful little home town a bow & crossbow are both considered to be firearms - and cannot be discharged within the town limits. So, in my little corner of New York State at least, both a bow and crossbow would be fired. God how I hate some of our laws. Are you sure about that? I've hear...

The irony is that in a game where the winner of a fight is made so by a subjective test (calibration) that we have come to agree on, we can't seem to agree on a subjective test for appearance. To start fighting, unless you are starting in an area with no existing combat culture, you can fight for months for free using loaner gear. Definitely not a universal thing. No loaner gear in my parts. My $250 figure came from this thread. Whether it is $250, or $200, or your $175- it is still a he...

I find myself oddly torn on this. I am a hard core "blu-plastic is the DEBIL!' person. The effort and cost in covering it in any of several ways is minor. Covering it greatly improves the atmosphere and image in my opinion. From this aspect I love the idea of mandating the coverage of the ugly...
