Whats that?

I have loaner gear for the rapier practice (my own stuff, not the shires), but the heavy practice doesn't have any. My impression is that it is intentional.

No, I think my problem is that I'm a 40-year-old out-of-shape fat man who can't fight more than about 4 fights in a row without taking a break. It's mostly a problem of stamina followed by skill. Steve LOL- I'm 40. 6' tall, and last time I stepped on the Scale I was the wrong side of 310. You know ...

So, on 6 pages we have about 3 people who think enforcing the rules are a bad idea, the rest think it should have been done years ago and we could go a bit stricter. I'm not enough of a heavy fighter to comment specifically on that, but I think Rapier fighting is similar enough that the reasons correlate- I love the competition. I've played lots of sports, but combat is special. It is pure. I don't have teammates to rely on- or to blame. I can't use my size or s...

You don't need to use sword and shield, or even authorize in it, if you want to fight in the SCA. I do not believe this is true in all Kingdoms. In Meridies, for example, authorizations are to be done with sword and shield, unless there is some physical limitation of the fighter that prevents this....

I posted earlier in the thread its easily possible with no used gear to get SCA minimums for approx $250, and in that post I even over estimated the cost of a helm you can get a AB helm for $60. Add another $50-75 for stick + shield and your still at $300 ready to go. actually i might've posted it ...
