My serious concern is the abrupt, overnight drop in quality. Whether true or not, this has the appearance of being a single high quality run to gain interest, and then once orders start rolling in, a slapdash hackjob to fill all the orders. Or...... It could be someone that had much more business t...

There are two styles of bye, destructive and non-destructive. Both have been used. Non-destructive ones are just, as you said, rest inhibitors. Destructive ones could be riggable just as you stated. I was in a rapier tournament once that had 2 people there to fight the destructive bye fights. One w...

Made a tent- any chance it is "period"?
Made this for an upcoming event. I didn't have any particular design in mind, I started just trying to make a cover for a pop up sunshade, and it kind of morphed into this. In the end, I think it looks cool, but is there any documentation for this kind of style? http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-a...

Get hold of itex in Colorado. I think their website is called Banwear. The e-mail that I have is Bshaver (at) banwear.com They manufacture the sunforger marine boatshrunk canvas that is the gold standard for SCA tent making. Pre-shrunk, waterproofed, mold and mildew treated. Most places on the net s...

OK, Thanks for all the help, my friend appreciates it. Here is what I came up with (rough draft, of course): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/docapi/skarp.jpg I think it turned out pretty nice. Of course, now there are a couple of others that want to do devices, and somehow I've turned into th...

OK, after talking with him again, he has made some revisions. First choice, per pale sable and gules, (in cheif? bigger overall ones) 2 WINGED lions combatant or. (I missed the winged part when I talked to him before) He really likes the simplicity of that one, but worries he would not have enough d...

Blazon question
I'm trying to help a friend come up with a device, but I'm stuck on how to blazon it. What we're working on is quarterly black and red, with 2 pairs of rampant lions combatant in gold. One pair on top, and one below. I'm pretty sure it starts out "per quarterly sable and gules", but I'm no...

Giraut- Not sure, but it appears that both links that you give basically add padding to the mask. That wouldn't be legal for SCA Cut and Thrust as you need to have rigid protection in those places. That's the padding under the leather shown in some pics. The ALLSTAR padding is especially made for h...

For me, personally, I stand with Sir Vitus, Animal Weretiger, et al. Duels can and *should* be settled on the field of HONOUR. Key word, there. How much Honour is there in putting a beat down on somebody less skilled at martial combat? How much Honour is there in insisting that a disagreement must ...

Well, I can't respond to comments about rapier, since I've never studied it. That's fine, and I by and large agree with you on most of your points. I just wanted to give an example of a system where the blade is placed in such a way as to force the opponent to impale himself. Yup. Stezzo tempo parr...

And no, this is not a dead horse issue. Saddly, it is alive and kicking. My we see its death soon. Ran Pleasant ARMA DFW Unfortunately, as long as we have supposed "scholars" ignoring the very clear and blatant writings of the masters and instead perpetuating the myth, it will never go aw...

The main thing to remember is as stated before, if you are going to a different group to play you play by THEIR rules, and you don't WHINE. When you play at a different group and you do something instinctively that isn't allowed, just apologize and move on. -Ramius/Elias I think the main problem th...

Especially to me because draw cuts allowed would not have worked through period Elizabethan clothing without some percussion to break through the layers. Would have worked just fine. Search U-tube and you'll find videos to show it. Now, I'll agree with you that some of the rules seem a little odd (...

Capo Ferro: 7) OF THE PARRIES. One parries with the true edge, and, although rarely, with the false edge, in a straight line as in an oblique line; now with the point high, now low, now up, now down; depending on whether one is struck with a thrust or a cut, it is with one or the other of the weapon...

According to that, the flexidagger is legal in Aethelmarc. It isn't legal in several other Kingdoms, though.
The Schlager I couldn't tell you without more info.
