Thanks everyone, while it doesn't seem to be the most historical choise i don't think I can resist the lure of 6 pound haubergeons...as long as i can argue the possibility of its existence.

Before I attempt to make or buy any welded maille I was wondering if anybody knows of welded maille being used historically if so when and where, if not what historical style of fabrication would come closest in terms of appearance?
