The cast bronze ones are more pliable (so they can be peined) and therefore less likely to shear off. The threaded ones are harder (so they can be machined) and are susceptible to it, although I have been using them a couple years and have not had any problem with them shearing off.

Re: WTB Cervelliere (helm) for SCA

I am looking for an adoption of this helm for SCA combat. The only company that I have seen making them is Windrose. Unfortunately the one they had is sold. Is anyone else making this helm? I think one might looks sharp with Dan's new line of products. We can probably make another one, as well.

Breanna,

We have the aventails on the shelf, no problem. Give me a call during the week, we can set up a time for you to come by if possible, or talk about what you want done if it's not.

Cold rolled bar stock can turn fibrous and crack if you pound it flat unless you use some heat. In my early days I had trouble with the same thing. Just get it to glow and then hit it.

I'm with Lucius. Those tips are reliable, sturdy, and recognizable. Although, I haven't had good luck with the black ones, they tend to split rather quickly. But, the red ones hold up very well. We have found that the longevity of these is pretty dependant on the way they are used. The blacks have ...

We've had a rash of missing packages, lately, and with USPS we end up losing on them because they don't include any insurance with things unless you pay the extra for it. Now we are going to have to start charging all our customers for insurance or require a signature (which I hate myself). We use F...

The fist stump I ever used, I carved the indents in very carefully. The second I used a 4 1/2" grinder. The last, I just picked my spots and wailed on it a bit with a round hammer. They all worked.

Use the hardest stump you can find, though.
