And I thought the shield suitcase was brilliant, nothing sucks more than travelling with a shield and having it come off the plane torn up.

Chris, I'll take mine heater shaped, to fit a 24 x 36, deep enough for my bar cage grip and with a bulb big enough for my bascinet on the back. 8)

Re: WTB shield blank/ pick up at Estrella

I'm going to be shopping for a aluminum blank and SS boss at Estrella. I am undecided on the shape/ size for this one, it is intended for war/ melee fighting skirmisher style. from 24x36 to 28x42, elipse O, truncated elipse (), or oval 0. I just curious which AA merchants are bringing what shield w...

No, just the face is grill, the back is solid 14 gauge. Grilled backs make for a heavy helmet, and with the mail this one wasn't light to begin with. The top is no less than 13 gauge, I can't vouch for thicker because I don't remember it THAT well. If you held a gun to my head I might say 12 gauge j...

The aventail sells for a couple hundred on its own, and it is fitted and sewn to the leather band that attaches it to the helmet. We usually charge $300 or so for an aventail done this way, so the helmet price makes more sense. That was pretty clean design Chazz and I came up with last summer that h...

If we had built the hat, we would be willing to suck up putting it on for you. We know our stuff and don't feel bad putting holes in it. We built it for a customer there this fall. I found his own auctions and he is selling some other stuff he bought as well, saying he is getting out of the SCA. Here is a link to his other stuff. It had a huge aventail on it, which explains why he cut some off. With the chain, $600 is just a little l...

Re: SCA- what makes an armouring laural?

Hallo to all and sorry if this post annoys anyone…. This may sound a bit of an odd question. What sort of things do you look for in someone who is at the standard for admission to the laurel? I think this is actually a pretty good question to discuss in a forum like this. The biggest thing to rem...

If the weld penetrates all the way through, it does not have to be welded both sides.

I think Brand uses this technique, and I know Red Falcon used to, a penetrating weld on top of a lapped plate, but no weld on the bottom which allows the plate to create the division it visually should.

In the example of ice chests, find a wholesale source for the coolers, then you are merely doing what every other retailer on the planet does. We sell our fittings wholeasale for people to do exactly this sort of thing.
