I don't have a pic of my first. It was a 14g breast and back I pounded out myself over a rail road track. Arms and legs from the original Armour Store (Brand owned it I think) Pauldrons from the Armoury of Westling Sturng (or something like that) and a Ashcraft Baker Sallet. All painted white, with...

Thomas, Johann uses Theophilus' method, maybe without the cow dung though.

Eesh...well, its not as easy as casting silver, that's for sure. The melting point of brass is 1652-1724 Fahrenheit. You'll need a furnace, crucible, tongs, and heat-resistant saftey gear. All of the brass casting we do here at the Uni uses sand casts. if it helps: a deep hole can work for a furnac...

As weird as that is, I think an awful lot of Japanese stuff--especially some of their later work--is far weirder... But I *get* their weird. This just totally harshes my medieval cool. Destroys the aura of authenticity. I mean, when the Grays start stalking you across the field, it takes a bit of a...

Re: Inexpensive maille for Hastings Battle...
It is indeed cheap and you get what you pay for, and yet it is maille... First off, as already mentioned, you don't need maille to fight at Hastings. Second, I think you're not allowed to wear that shirt at Hastings. IIRC butted maille isn't allowed, only riveted. Also, that shirt looks like alumin...

Well I had a look and yes it would seem that the author of that article was of the opinion that the top of the Arnas helm was a single piece. However that is a very old article and considering the condition of the helm as well as the technology of the day it is possible that they have missed some in...
