Last I heard, TNBO is supposed to be 2012. That's what the yahoogroup posting said, anyway. I'm sorry I missed the one with you there, James, but when we went before I completely the Holy Trinity Pilgrimage of 1066: visitation of Fulford, Stamford, AND Hastings. It was awesome. Well that was quick From a UK friend: I have flown with steel and never had a problem (and all the people flying to FightCamp and other events I know of have never had a problem). Just check your sword bag in like any other luggage, say it is fencing equipment. If they want to charge you extra for s...

I think I will have to do spear as I am not sure how I will get a sword in country with the new ban. I wouldn't worry too much about that...unless you plan on bringing a katana (the ban seems overly concerned with curved blades). Bottom line, this is evidence to support a theory...that's all. But it is not *historical* evidence. It's more like rationalization and hype to support ego. I'm pretty sure that the Myth that linen armour was ineffective has been fully debunked by now. What was the purpose in using lots of research money doing tests that were done ages ago? Well, that's not entirely true of this particular project - there haven't been any big published tests for the ef...

Live steel combatants get to experience certain things in a more realistic way then the SCA... Sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine: the use of "Live" steel in place of "Rebated" steel when describing this sort of non-lethal fighting. "live" steel is sharp and "rebated...

Its not an estoc. It is from Fiore though. m I belive it is some kind of medieval crowbar for defeating an opponent in full plate. IIRC it could be a judicial combat weapon. It doesn't look realistic when they fight, because it's just wrestling in armor because the sword hits seem to mean nothing. Thats because a sword hit against armour does mean nothing. sounds like you could be describing the odd swords that appear in some of Fiore's works. As far as I know they don't exist (or rather no evidence of them has survived), and may have been meant as graphical representation of a swords striking surfaces.
